New Delhi: The Indian team's young batsman, Yashasvi Jaiswal, suddenly had to be admitted to the hospital on Tuesday. His condition deteriorated a few hours after Mumbai played an important match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The doctors' examination revealed that he was suffering from acute gastroenteritis, i.e., a serious stomach-related problem.
Jaiswal was not completely fit in the Super League match played against Rajasthan in Pune. It is being said that he was feeling stomach cramps and restlessness during the match. Despite this, he decided to play for the team. Jaiswal scored 15 runs in 16 balls and became a part of Mumbai's run chase, but it was clear that he was not comfortable.
As soon as the match ended, his health deteriorated further. Stomach pain intensified, and weakness also started increasing. After this, the team management did not delay, and he was immediately taken to Aditya Birla Hospital in Pimpri-Chinchwad. As soon as he reached there, the doctors started treating him.
Jaiswal was given IV medicines in the hospital. Besides, tests like ultrasound and CT scans were also conducted. After these tests, doctors confirmed that he had acute gastroenteritis. At present he has been advised to take complete rest along with medicines.
Till now, no official statement has been issued by BCCI regarding Jaiswal's health. However, it is believed that clear information regarding his condition will be given in the next few days.
The news of his ill health also raises concerns because Jaiswal has been in excellent form in recent times. In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he scored 145 runs in three matches, that too with a high strike rate. Earlier, in the ODI series against South Africa, he scored 156 runs and also scored his first ODI century.
At present, it is a matter of relief that Jaiswal has no immediate international tour scheduled, and he is not even a part of the T20 team right now. In such a situation, he has enough time to recover completely. Both Team India and fans are hoping that he recovers soon and returns to the field again.
