Faridabad: 25-Year-Old Woman Gang-Raped After Taking Lift, Two Held (X)
Faridabad: Faridabad police have arrested two men on Tuesday in connection with the brutal gang-rape of a 25-year-old woman, who was offered a ride and later left injured on a roadside.
A case was registered based on a complaint filed by the victim’s family in the early hours of December 30.
According to police, on the night of December 29, the woman reportedly left her mother's house around 8:30 pm after an argument and went to a female friend's place. Aroung 12:30 am, the woman was returning home. She was at Metro Chowk in Faridabad when she could not find any transport to reach Kalyanpuri Chowk. Two men in a Maruti Suzuki Eeco van offered her a lift.
The police say she agreed to the offer, but the ride turned into a horror. The accused allegedly took her on Gurugram-Faridabad Road and assaulted and gang-raped her inside the moving van. After the attack, they threw her out of the vehicle around 3 am and 4 am, while it was still in motion.
Later, the woman called her sister for help, after which she was found wounded on the roadside, the officer said. She was then rushed to Badshah Khan Hospital for treatment. She had severe wounds, including deep cuts to her face requiring 12 stitches.
Police say her condition was critical, and she was unable to make a formal statement immediately. Her sister later provided key details that helped launch the investigation.
Faridabad police detained two suspects late Tuesday night. They have seized the van believed to have been used in the crime and are questioning the men to establish the full sequence of events. An FIR has been filed at Kotwali police station.
