Delhi High Court on Monday denied interim bail to the ex-minister of the Aam Aadmi Party who is accused in the Delhi excise duty case. Sisodia sought bail on the grounds of medical illness of his wife for six weeks on June 3, when she got admitted to the hospital.

The court, however, has granted permission to meet his wife between 10 am to 5 pm on any convenient day. “This Court finds itself very hard to persuade to grant bail to Manish Sisodia. However, we direct that he (Manish Sisodia) be taken to the residence or the hospital where Mrs Sisodia is. He is taken to the hospital/residence between 10 am and 5 pm,” the Court ordered.

The court has also ensured that the best medical treatment should be given to Sisodia’s wife. “This court would direct that the best treatment should be provided to Mrs Sisodia. This Court would suggest that Mrs Sisodia be examined by a medical board constituted by the AIIMS,” the Court directed.

Apart from this, Delhi police have been advised that no media gathering should happen during the meeting. “The Delhi Police is direct to ensure that there is no media gathering where Sisodia goes to meet his wife. He shall not use the mobile phone or internet,” the order said.

The order was pronounced today after having reserved it on June 3, Saturday by Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma.

Notably, Manish Sisodia got arrested by the CBI on February 26, and his bail got rejected by the High Court on May 30. Whereas, ED’s case for bail, the order was reserved by the court on June 2.
