New Delhi: In a bid to strengthen direct communication between the police and the public in the national capital, a public grievance hearing was organised at Mandawali and Madhu Vihar police stations in East Delhi under the Delhi Police’s public hearing initiative. The hearing was chaired by Special Commissioner of Police, Law and Order, Zone-1, Devesh Chandra Srivastava. Joint Commissioner of Police, Eastern Range, Milind Mahadev Dumbre, Deputy Commissioner of Police, East District, Rajiv Kumar, along with Additional DCPs and ACPs, were also present.

The Assistant Commissioners of Police of Mayur Vihar and Madhu Vihar, along with the Station House Officers, Additional Station Officers and other police personnel from both police stations, attended the hearing. The officers listened to the grievances of complainants one by one and issued directions for necessary action in the respective cases.

148 Grievances Received, 121 Resolved

A total of 148 cases were brought up during the public hearing, of which 121 were resolved. In the remaining 27 cases, the concerned officers were directed to conduct an inquiry and ensure an appropriate resolution at the earliest.

A large number of complaints involved disputes between individuals, neighbourhood quarrels, monetary transactions, domestic disputes and family-related matters, including disputes between mothers-in-law and daughters-in-law. Police officials listened carefully to the complainants and directed the concerned officers to take necessary action based on the nature of each case.

Complainants Directly Presented Their Grievances Before Senior Officers

The objective of the public hearing was to provide people with an opportunity to present their complaints directly before senior police officers. Complainants shared their problems and concerns with the officials, who listened to them seriously and directed the concerned police personnel to take necessary action.

Through the initiative, the police sought to convey that listening to public grievances and ensuring their proper resolution are among its primary responsibilities. The hearing also facilitated direct interaction between police officials and citizens, with emphasis on further strengthening police-public relations at the local level.
