Anurag Kumar Takes Charge as Delhi Police Commissioner, Replacing Satish Golcha (X)
New Delhi: The Centre on Friday has appointed 1994 batch IPS Anurag Kumar as the new Commissioner of Delhi Police, replacing Satish Golcha, who had been serving as the national capital's police chief since August 2025.
Anurag Kumar, a 1994 batch IPS officer, was currently the Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau (IB). The letter of Anurag's appointment has been issued by the Home Ministry.
Satish Golcha has been removed from the post of Delhi Police Commissioner. Satish Golcha's tenure was till 30 April next year, but he has still been removed from the post of Commissioner. However, the reason why Golcha was removed from the post of Commissioner has not been revealed yet. Satish Golcha was made CP of Delhi Police on August 22, 2025.

On Friday, the Home Ministry issued a letter announcing his appointment as the new Commissioner of Delhi. "With the approval of the competent authority, Anurag Kumar, IPS (AGMUT:1994) is appointed as the Commissioner of Police, Delhi with effect from the date of assumption of charge and until further orders," an official order said.
The Home Ministry has removed 1992 batch UT cadre IPS Satish Golcha from the post of Delhi Police Commissioner.
In August 2025, Satish Golcha, a 1992-batch IPS officer, was appointed Commissioner of Delhi Police. Satish Golcha is an IPS officer of the Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territories (AGMUT) cadre. Previously, he held the additional charge of Director General of Tihar Jail and was also Special Commissioner of Intelligence for Delhi Police.
