New Delhi: A unique blend of spirituality, music and modern technology is set to bring the extraordinary life of Swami Chinmayananda to the big screen. Presented by Chinmaya Mission, Awakening is a musical biographical film that explores the spiritual leader’s life, philosophy and teachings through an innovative cinematic approach.

Scheduled for release on Sunday, the film moves beyond the conventional biographical format, offering a grand, Broadway-inspired cinematic experience. Its narrative combines music, emotional storytelling and striking visuals to introduce Swami Chinmayananda’s legacy to a new generation.

A press conference held ahead of the release highlighted the creative vision behind the project, including its musical composition, visual design and use of emerging technologies.

A creative collaboration between Mani Shankar and Anjali Joshi

The film has been developed through a creative partnership between noted filmmaker and innovator Mani Shankar and artificial intelligence specialist and production design expert Anjali Joshi. Their collaboration brings together cinematic storytelling, contemporary technology and imaginative visual elements to create a distinctive presentation.

Technology has been incorporated to deepen the emotional impact of the narrative and strengthen its spiritual message.

Mani Shankar described the making of Awakening as a unique creative journey. He said Swami Chinmayananda’s life represents a powerful story of transformation, purpose and the pursuit of knowledge. The aim, he explained, was to translate that journey into a cinematic experience that would appeal to contemporary audiences while preserving the essence of the spiritual leader’s teachings.

The Broadway-inspired format provided an opportunity to weave music, emotion and visual storytelling into a unified experience.

Artificial intelligence shapes the film’s visual world

Anjali Joshi said the production explored new possibilities in technology and design. Her focus was on creating a visual environment that complemented the music and narrative while helping audiences connect emotionally with Swami Chinmayananda’s life.

She emphasised that the film’s visual elements were designed to enrich the storytelling rather than overshadow its central message.

Interactive holographic bot adds a technological dimension

Another major highlight associated with the event was the official unveiling of an interactive holographic bot representing Swami Chinmayananda. According to the information provided, the bot was officially unveiled by the Prime Minister.

The initiative has been designed and developed by Mani Shankar and Bhairav Shankar, drawing inspiration and blessings from Pujya Swami Swaroopananda Ji. Presented by Chinmaya Mission, the holographic project seeks to make spiritual teachings and heritage more accessible through modern technology.

Together, the film and the interactive holographic initiative reflect an effort to connect traditional spiritual wisdom with contemporary forms of communication and cinematic expression.
