New Delhi: In a major crackdown on the alleged illegal cannabis trade in the national capital, Dwarka District Police have busted a suspected supply network, recovering a total of 54.375 kg of cannabis and arresting two accused in a three-stage operation.

The operation, conducted by the Anti-Auto Theft Squad (AATS) of Dwarka, began with the discovery of an abandoned scooter and eventually led investigators to a large cannabis stock concealed inside a bed at a house. Police also seized the scooter linked to the recovery.

How Did an Abandoned Scooter Lead Police to the Network?

According to DCP Kushal Pal Singh, the AATS Dwarka team was patrolling near Tiranga Chowk in Aggarwal Colony, Najafgarh, on October 7 when a suspicious person allegedly abandoned a TVS Jupiter scooter and fled.

During a search, police recovered 1.855 kg of cannabis from the scooter's storage compartment. An FIR, numbered 353/2026, was registered at Baba Haridas Nagar Police Station under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

As the investigation progressed, police arrested Balbir, 45, a resident of Indra Market Colony in Najafgarh, on October 10. Around 200 grams of cannabis was allegedly recovered from his possession.

According to police, information obtained during questioning led the team to a house in Siddharth Enclave, Mohan Garden, where a larger stock of cannabis was suspected to be stored.
