New Delhi: A cinematic scheme involving the theft and disposal of rice sacks in the capital was finally exposed thanks to the alertness of the Alipur police. Following the theft, the police began scrutinizing footage from CCTV cameras installed in the area, bringing a suspicious vehicle onto their radar. The subsequent effort to piece together clues eventually led the investigation to Khureji Khas. Acting swiftly, the police apprehended three accused individuals and recovered 127 sacks containing approximately 3.81 tonnes of rice from their possession.

Outer North District DCP Shobhit D. Saxena stated that this operation was conducted under the directives of Joint Commissioner of Police (Northern Range) Vijay Kumar, the guidance of Additional DCP-I (Outer North District) Lokeshwaran R. (IPS), and the supervision of ACP (SP Badli) Firoz Alam.

Investigation triggered by theft complaint

An e-FIR (No. 80083585/2026) was registered at Alipur police station, and the investigation was initiated under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. To solve the case, the police team meticulously examined CCTV footage from the crime scene and surrounding areas, continuously analyzing suspicious activities and vehicle movements. During this process, the police identified a suspicious vehicle bearing the registration number DL01LAT5402.

The police team traced the vehicle's registered owner, Mohammad Majid (son of Yunus Khan), and interrogated him. Interrogation and investigation yielded crucial leads for the police. Piecing these clues together, the police team began conducting raids at various suspected locations. During the investigation, the team reached Khureji Khas, where a search operation led to the recovery of 127 sacks of rice. Each sack reportedly weighed approximately 30 kilograms, bringing the total quantity of recovered rice to an estimated 3.81 tonnes. The police seized the recovered goods and arrested three accused individuals in connection with the case.
