CJP's Tiranga March Sparks Political Tension in Delhi, NSUI Workers Protest Late at Night (Screengrab(ANI))
New Delhi: Political and police activity has intensified in the capital Delhi ahead of the proposed 'Lehra Do Tiranga' yatra of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) on Friday, October 16. On one hand, CJP founder Abhijit Dipke has appealed to reach the Central Park of Connaught Place with the tricolor at 5 pm, while on the other hand, NSUI workers demonstrated outside Daryaganj police station demanding registration of FIR in the case of alleged assault on women members. Meanwhile, Delhi Police has increased security in Connaught Place and surrounding areas.
According to NSUI, the workers of the organisation wanted to lodge an FIR against a female officer of Delhi Police accusing her of allegedly assaulting female members. The organisation claims that despite contacting senior police officials on Wednesday, no action was taken on the complaint. In protest against this, the workers sat on strike outside the police station.
NSUI alleges that instead of listening to the complaint, the police took action against the protesters. The organisation has demanded an impartial investigation into the matter and action against those responsible.
NSUI president Vinod Jakhar alleged that women workers were assaulted and some members were taken to a dark room and beaten with shoes and boots. He said that the organisation had come only with the demand of registering an FIR, but their views were not listened to.
Jakhar raised the question as to how demanding justice for women activists could be a crime. However, these allegations have not been independently confirmed. The entire picture will become clear only after the police's side of the case and the status of the investigation are revealed.
The organisation's national media in-charge Ravi Pandey condemned the detention and demanded immediate registration of FIR and impartial investigation. He warned that if appropriate action is not taken in the matter, the organisation may intensify its agitation. NSUI has demanded accountability in the case of alleged misbehaviour with women members.
✊🏽🔥 #NSUI #JusticeForStudents #Satyagraha

On the other hand, CJP founder Abhijit Dipke has appealed to the people to reach Central Park of Connaught Place at 5 pm on Friday with the tricolour. According to available information, the march is being linked to the demand for removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and protest against alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list.
Deepke claimed in a press conference late on Thursday night that the police may take him into custody. He said that he is even ready to go to jail for hoisting the tricolour. He alleged that police and intelligence agencies were keeping an eye on him. Making his demand clear, Dipke said that he wants the appointment of an impartial person in place of the Chief Election Commissioner and is not demanding a change in the government. He also mentioned the arrest of his associates Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka.

Delhi Police has appealed to people to stay away from the proposed march, citing prohibitory orders in force in Connaught Place and surrounding areas. According to the police, restrictions are in place under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Code (BNSS). At the same time, New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has informed that Central Park will be closed on October 16 and 17 due to administrative reasons.
The administration says that the purpose of these steps is to maintain law and order and ensure the safety of public property. In such a situation, the police are keeping an eye on the activities related to the proposed visit of CJP and the protest of NSUI. The further situation in the capital will depend on how the organisers and the administration proceed amid the restrictions imposed.
