New Delhi: The Delhi Legislative Assembly observed Vigilance Awareness Week 2026 with a renewed commitment to transparency, accountability and ethical conduct in public service. Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta administered an integrity pledge to officers and employees, urging them to make honesty a fundamental part of their professional responsibilities.
Addressing the gathering, Gupta said that tackling corruption requires more than laws and monitoring systems. It also depends on the personal commitment of every individual to uphold ethical values while performing official duties.
The Speaker emphasised that integrity must come from within rather than being driven solely by external accountability. He encouraged officials and employees to regularly assess whether honesty, dedication to duty and concern for public welfare were reflected in their everyday work.
He added that merely following government procedures was not enough. Integrity must become an essential part of an individual's character and the institution's work culture.
The awareness campaign is being observed from October 26 to November 1 under the central theme ‘Integrity for Prosperity’.
As part of the pledge, officials and employees committed themselves to neither accepting nor offering bribes, respecting the law, performing their responsibilities transparently and reporting instances of corruption to the appropriate authorities.
Gupta said an institution's real strength lies in the collective commitment of its employees. He noted that leadership can deliver results only when the entire team works towards a common objective.
He further observed that every responsibility performed honestly helps strengthen public confidence in the democratic system. Appreciating the contribution of Assembly employees, he urged them to make integrity, teamwork and service to the nation the guiding principles of their work culture.
Assembly Chief Whip Abhay Verma and MLA Ajay Mahawar were also present at the programme.
