New Delhi: Delhi Police Public School in Safdarjung Enclave hosted a grand ceremony celebrating students’ academic achievements, creativity and diverse talents. Delhi Lieutenant Governor Sardar Taranjit Singh Sandhu attended the event as the chief guest, while Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar was present as the guest of honour. Several senior Delhi Police officers also attended the programme.
The highlight of the event was the felicitation of meritorious students for their outstanding performances. As the award recipients took the stage, the auditorium filled with applause. The recognition celebrated not only the students’ hard work, discipline and dedication but also acknowledged the support and guidance provided by their parents and teachers.
The ceremony brought together elements of India's cultural heritage and contemporary education through a series of performances. A presentation of ‘Dastangoi’, based on Delhi’s rich history, offered the audience a glimpse into the city’s past.
Young yoga practitioners presented ‘Adi Yogi’, highlighting the strength and spiritual significance of India's yoga tradition. The school’s music group added a melodious touch to the programme, while ‘Ullas’, a performance blending classical and contemporary dance forms, received enthusiastic appreciation from the audience.
One of the most engaging moments of the ceremony was an interactive session between students and Lieutenant Governor Sardar Taranjit Singh Sandhu. Students raised thoughtful questions on contemporary issues, society, future challenges and their personal aspirations.
Sandhu responded to their questions and appreciated their curiosity and ability to think critically. Drawing from his experiences, he encouraged them to develop independent thinking, maintain a positive outlook and understand their responsibilities towards society. His interaction provided students with an opportunity to learn directly from his experiences and guidance.
The school also launched its e-magazine, ‘Sahas’, electronically during the event. The publication marks the institution’s first initiative of this kind and is intended to provide students with a platform to showcase their writing skills, creative expression and ideas.
The initiative is expected to support students’ literary and intellectual development alongside their formal education.
The programme highlighted the importance of education beyond academic scores, emphasising the need to nurture confidence, values, discipline, creativity and leadership among young learners. By recognising and encouraging students’ abilities, the school aims to prepare them to face future challenges with confidence.
The event concluded as a celebration of achievement and encouragement, reinforcing the importance of giving young talent the recognition and opportunities needed to grow.
