New Delhi: A painful road accident has come to light in Nand Nagri area of Delhi late on Wednesday night. Here an uncontrolled tourist bus, while coming down from the flyover, hit several vehicles waiting at the red light. In this horrific accident, a young man died tragically on the spot, while about half a dozen people were injured. The condition of two of them is critical. Police are trying to identify the deceased and injured.
According to the local people, as soon as the UP number tourist bus came down from the flyover near Nand Nagri depot, it did not stop even after hitting the red light and dragged the vehicles for a long distance. One bike got stuck in the wheel of the bus, which he dragged along.
When the bus somehow stopped after being dragged for a long distance, the driver of the bus took the opportunity, left the vehicle and ran away from there. There was hue and cry on the spot after the accident. The passersby present there immediately helped and took the injured to GTB Hospital. The condition of many injured remains very critical in the hospital.
As soon as information about the accident was received, senior police officers of the district immediately reached the spot. Due to the accident, there was a huge traffic jam in Nand Nagari area and there was a lot of anger among the people, but the police took control of the situation in time and got the jam cleared.
The police have taken the accident vehicles into their custody. This includes three bikes, a cab and the accused bus. On the basis of the crashed vehicles, efforts are being made to identify the injured and the deceased and contact their families. Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
In the statement issued by the police, it has been said that Nand Nagri Police Station received information about this road accident at around 9:30 in the night. On reaching the spot on the main road near Nand Nagari bus depot, it was found that while descending from the Nand Nagari flyover, the bus collided with a taxi and then hit 3 motorcyclists.
The injured were immediately taken to GBT Hospital for treatment. One of the injured motorcyclists, Vineet (27 years), was declared dead by the doctors. The other two injured, Rohit and Suraj, are undergoing treatment. Crime and forensic teams inspected the spot and collected necessary evidence. A case has been registered at Nand Nagri police station. Police have started action under appropriate sections of the law.
