New Delhi: Delhi Police have arrested six people and recovered 38 stolen two-wheelers in five separate operations targeting vehicle theft networks across the capital. The recovered vehicles include 21 scooters and 17 motorcycles. According to police, the operation has helped solve 41 vehicle theft cases registered at different police stations. Among those arrested are two alleged receivers who purchased stolen vehicles.
The operation involved CCTV footage analysis, intelligence inputs, technical surveillance and regular patrolling. Investigators traced suspects across several locations and uncovered links between alleged vehicle thieves and people suspected of buying stolen vehicles.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (North District) Niharika Bhatt said during a press briefing at Delhi Police headquarters that the Anti-Auto Theft Squad (AATS) examined CCTV footage from multiple areas to identify suspicious movements.
Investigators combined footage analysis with technical checks and information gathered from local informants. These efforts helped the team identify suspects, locate stolen vehicles and trace parts of the network allegedly involved in their purchase and resale.
Police investigations revealed leads connected to Wazirabad, Mustafabad, Inderlok, Sarai Rohilla, Jamuna Bazaar and the Yamuna Khadar area, among other locations.
In the first operation, police apprehended Anas, an alleged vehicle thief, in the Sarai Rohilla police station area. Two suspected buyers of stolen vehicles, Sameer Malik and Rahees Ahmed, were also arrested.
Police recovered four stolen vehicles based on information provided by the accused. Investigators also linked Anas to another vehicle theft case, taking the total number of cases solved through this operation to five.
A motorcycle theft reported in Wazirabad provided the breakthrough in the second operation. A Hero Deluxe motorcycle was allegedly stolen from Lane No. 2 near Ramghat on June 29, 2026. The complainant, Mohammed Shahid Khan, filed a report on July 1.
After examining CCTV footage, the AATS team traced the motorcycle's movements towards Mustafabad. Police subsequently arrested Sameer, a resident of Nehru Vihar in Mustafabad, with the help of local intelligence.
During questioning, investigators allegedly found links to other vehicle theft incidents. Six stolen vehicles were recovered at his instance, and the operation helped solve seven cases.
The third operation began after a scooter theft was reported from Shastri Nagar. Police examined CCTV footage and technical evidence to identify the suspected offender.
During the investigation into a complaint registered on September 28, 2026, police arrested Sawan, also known as Swan or Parvez Alam, in the Inderlok–Sarai Rohilla area. The 24-year-old was allegedly linked to other vehicle thefts during questioning.
Police recovered seven stolen vehicles based on information provided by him. The operation helped solve seven cases registered at different police stations.
On October 19, the AATS team received intelligence that Manoj Kumar, also known as Anshu, who was wanted in a vehicle theft case, was present in the Wazirabad police station area and allegedly planning another theft.
Acting on the information, police conducted an operation and arrested him. Nine stolen vehicles were recovered at his instance. Investigators also found that he was wanted in another vehicle theft case. The operation helped solve a total of ten cases.
On the same day, AATS patrol teams made further recoveries at two locations. They found five stolen vehicles near Jamuna Bazaar in the Kashmere Gate area and seven more in the Yamuna Khadar area near Signature Bridge.
These recoveries helped police solve another 12 vehicle theft cases, highlighting the role of regular patrols and surveillance in areas vulnerable to such crimes.
According to Delhi Police, the 41 cases span numerous police stations across the capital. Sarai Rohilla accounted for ten cases, while Roop Nagar, Seelampur and Paschim Vihar East accounted for two cases each.
The remaining cases were linked to Kashmere Gate, Burari, Timarpur, Sadar Bazaar, Gulabi Bagh, Bhajanpura, Budh Vihar, Ashok Vihar, Nand Nagri, Seemapuri, DBG Road, North Rohini, Karawal Nagar, ODRS, Khajuri Khas, Samaypur Badli, Mansarovar Park, Nabi Karim, Laxmi Nagar, Adarsh Nagar, Bhalswa Dairy, Keshavpuram, GTB Enclave, Raj Park and other police station jurisdictions.

Police said questioning of the arrested suspects and verification of evidence related to the recovered vehicles are continuing. Investigators are working to identify additional associates, suspected buyers of stolen vehicles and people potentially involved in the illegal trade of vehicle parts.
