Dwarka Encounter: Wanted Dabri Murder Accused Shivam Jaggi Arrested After Gunfight with Police (Pankaj Rai)

New Delhi: In a bid to curb criminal activity in the national capital, the Dwarka District Police demonstrated swift action by apprehending a suspect wanted in the Dabri murder case following an encounter. An exchange of fire took place between the police’s special staff team and the suspect. The suspect was struck in his left leg by police return fire, after which he was subdued and transported to a hospital. The arrested individual has been identified as Shivam Jaggi, alias 'Goo', who is reported to be only 19 years old.

Sought refuge at a gang hideout following the murder

Dwarka District DCP Kushal Pal Singh stated that the murder occurred on October 24 near Jhanda Chowk in Dabri. An FIR (No. 632/26) was registered at the Dabri police station on October 25 under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Shivam was a wanted suspect in this case. Preliminary questioning revealed that he had been in contact with members of the Hashim Baba gang and had stayed with them in the Seelampur area following the murder.

Trap laid on Sabi Nadi Road; direct exchange of fire ensues

On October 30, the police received information that the suspect was moving through the Goyla Dairy-Chhawla area and was scheduled to meet an associate on Sabi Nadi Road, near UER-II in Sector 24. The Special Staff team set up a perimeter and surrounded the area. Upon spotting the police, the accused—instead of surrendering—allegedly fired four rounds from an illegal pistol. After issuing a warning, the police team fired three rounds in self-defence. During the exchange, the accused was struck in his left leg and subsequently apprehended.

Weapon recovered; alleged preparation for another crime

An illegal pistol, a magazine, one live cartridge, and four spent shell casings were recovered from the accused. According to the police, he had arrived in Dwarka with the intention of carrying out another crime, acting on instructions from members of his gang. He also has prior criminal cases registered against him, including charges of murder and attempted murder.

Key role played by police personnel

The operation was carried out by a team formed under the directives of DCP (Dwarka) Kushal Pal Singh and led by Inspector Kamlesh Kumar. The team included SI Rakesh, SI Dinesh Kumar, SI Jaibir, ASI Vijay Singh, Head Constables Naresh, Rajesh, Jairam, and Jagat Singh, as well as Constable Manjit. The operation was conducted under the supervision of ACP (Operations) Subhash Malik and the overall oversight of Additional DCP-1 Vikas Kumar. The police are currently investigating the accused’s other associates, the full details of the conspiracy, and his connections to the gang.
