New Delhi: In a major initiative to raise awareness about substance abuse and promote national unity, eight Delhi Police motorcyclists are set to participate in a nationwide motorcycle rally covering approximately 1,300 kilometres from Delhi to Ekta Nagar in Gujarat. The campaign aims to encourage young people to stay away from drugs and embrace a healthier, more productive future.
Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar flagged off the force’s motorcycle contingent at police headquarters on Monday. Senior police officials were also present at the event.
The rally is being organised in coordination with the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) as part of the celebrations surrounding National Unity Day 2026, observed in honour of the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
The campaign’s central message, “Say No to Drugs, Say Yes to Life,” highlights the harmful consequences of substance abuse and encourages young people to make informed choices.
The nationwide rally will formally be flagged off by the Union Home Minister at the National Police Memorial on October 21, 2026. Motorcycle contingents from different states, Union Territories and Central Armed Police Forces will participate in the initiative, carrying the message of a drug-free India across the country.
Through public outreach and awareness activities, the campaign seeks to strengthen community participation in the fight against drug abuse and protect the future of younger generations.
The Delhi contingent will cover around 1,300 kilometres on its journey to Ekta Nagar, also known as Kevadia, in Gujarat. According to the itinerary, the riders will halt overnight at Jaipur, Ajmer, Udaipur and Gandhinagar.
The contingent is scheduled to reach Ekta Nagar on October 25, where motorcycle teams from across the country will assemble.
Beyond the long-distance ride, the campaign will include awareness activities at educational institutions and public places in coordination with local police. Outreach programmes are also planned at prominent Delhi landmarks, including India Gate and the Red Fort, to engage with citizens and highlight the dangers of drug abuse.
The Delhi Police contingent comprises five main riders and three reserve riders. To ensure their safety during the journey, the team has been provided with essential protective equipment, including jackets, trousers, gloves and riding boots.
Additional logistical arrangements have also been made to support the contingent. A truck will transport reserve motorcycles, while an Ertiga vehicle and a minibus will accompany the team to facilitate administrative work, travel requirements and media-related activities.
These arrangements are intended to ensure that the riders can complete the journey safely while carrying out the campaign's awareness objectives.
Motorcycle contingents from Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Haryana and Punjab will also participate in the nationwide initiative coordinated by the CRPF.
Accommodation arrangements for these teams and their supporting personnel are being made at the New Police Lines in Delhi. Delhi Police will assist with lodging and meals to facilitate their participation in the campaign.
The involvement of teams from different regions is expected to reinforce the message of collective responsibility, national integration and a shared commitment to combating substance abuse.
The rally will culminate in Ekta Nagar, Gujarat, where a national-level concluding ceremony is scheduled for October 31 at the Statue of Unity in the presence of the Prime Minister.
Participating motorcycle contingents will also take part in a Unity Parade as part of the celebrations marking National Unity Day.
Delhi Police's participation highlights that combating drug abuse goes beyond law enforcement. It also requires public awareness, community engagement and sustained efforts to safeguard the health and future of young people.
The campaign's message remains clear: stay away from drugs, choose life and strengthen the resolve for a united, drug-free India.
