Delhi Shocker: Class 6 Girl Allegedly Raped After Being Held Captive Inside Shop

New Delhi: A case of rape of a girl studying in sixth class has come to light in Sadar Bazar, Delhi. The girl had left home to collect school supplies. It is alleged that when she reached the tailor shop on the way, she was called inside and then not allowed to go out. According to the police, the girl was sexually assaulted and was tied up during the incident. After receiving the information, police reached the spot and started investigation. The accused has been identified as 56-year-old Maqsood. He has been arrested and sent to judicial custody.

Why did the girl leave the house that night?

According to the police, on the night of September 16, the girl had left home to buy school related items. She lives in Sadar Bazar area. During this time, she found the shop of the accused on the way. Initial police investigation has revealed that the accused called the girl inside the shop. After this she was forced. Police received information about the case through PCR call, after which the team of Sadar Bazar police station reached the spot.

What happened inside the shop?

According to police investigation, the girl was stopped inside the shop. It is alleged that her hands and legs were tied and then she was raped. After the incident the girl somehow came out of the shop. Some reports say that the accused left the girl outside the shop after the door opened and went away from there. However, the complete circumstances of the incident will be confirmed only after police investigation.

How did the police get information about the incident?

The police had received a PCR call on the night of 16 September. In the call, information was given about a shopkeeper stopping a minor in the shop and committing a sexual offence with her. As soon as the information was received, Sadar Bazar police station reached the spot. The team of Mahila Police Station was also included in the investigation. The police started further action on the basis of the girl's complaint.

Based on the complaint of the victim, an FIR has been registered in the Mahila Police Station of North District. Sections related to rape, POCSO Act and wrongful confinement have been imposed in the case. The police arrested the accused Maqsood and after completing the legal process,

Why is the identity of the minor not being disclosed?

This case is of sexual offence involving a minor hence the identity of the girl is not being made public. Under the law, information that could reveal the identity of the victim cannot be published. The police have also continued the investigation considering the matter as sensitive. At present the accused is in judicial custody and further action in the case will proceed on the basis of investigation.
