New Delhi: A shocking incident happened on Tuesday night in the Kashmere Gate area of Delhi. Between 10:10 and 10:30 pm, unknown miscreants opened fire on a car. There were a total of five people in the car, and one of them was injured. According to the police, the person named Deepak Khatri present in the car has described himself as a part of the legal team of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. At some places he is being called Bishnoi's lawyer, but the police are saying that this will be clear in the investigation—in some reports, his wife Rajni Khatri has been described as Bishnoi's main lawyer.
People had come out after worshiping at Hanuman temple (Marghatwala) and were about to return home in the car. Near ISBT, suddenly 2-3 attackers riding scooters or bikes came into Maiden Hotel or Kashmiri Gate area. They fired 3-4 rounds (in some places said to be 4 rounds) from the rear. The rear glass of the car was broken, and only then did everyone realize that an attack was taking place. The man named Sandeep (or Sandeep Bisht), who was sitting in the back seat, was shot in the shoulder or back. The rest of the people panicked and ran towards the bus stand, speeding up their car and escaped. The PCR van arrived quickly and took the injured to the hospital. Now his condition is stable, there is no danger.

Deepak Khatri told the police that he had not received any prior threat, but after the incident he felt something was wrong—"something fishy." He is a lawyer and is claiming to be associated with Lawrence Bishnoi's advocacy. The police have recorded the statements of him and his other associates. Police suspect that this could be a case of old enmity or gang war.
A case has been registered at Kashmiri Gate police station on the complaint of Deepak Khatri – Section 109(1)/3(5) of the Indian Justice Code and 25/27 of the Arms Act have been imposed. Police are checking CCTV footage, interrogating eyewitnesses, and searching for the attackers. No one has been arrested yet, but the investigation is going on in full swing. Delhi Police says that the conspiracy will be revealed soon.
This incident is again bringing the cases related to gangsters in Delhi into limelight. People are asking whether a new phase of gang war has started. At present, alert has been increased in the area.
