New Delhi: The incidents of fire in Delhi are not stopping. A massive fire broke out in a workers' slum near Udyog Bhawan area in the early hours of Wednesday. The flames were so strong that there was panic in the entire colony. It is fortunate that no one died in this accident.
According to officials, the fire started from a spark from the electrical panel. The spark took a monstrous form within no time. The temporary huts and rooms built nearby were immediately engulfed in flames. The fire spread rapidly due to heat and dry wood.
As soon as the information was received, Delhi Fire Service came into action. About 20 fire engines reached the spot. Fire personnel extinguished the fire with all their might. After a lot of effort, the fire was surrounded from all sides at 5:10 in the morning. The fire was completely controlled by 5:30.
Officials have given news of relief. There is no news of anyone dying or getting injured in this accident. However, the goods kept in the slums were burnt to ashes. The extent of the loss is still being calculated.
This is the second big incident of the week. Delhi was shaken even late on Monday night. A massive fire broke out in Takiya Kale Khan's Balmiki colony. This settlement is just behind Maulana Azad Medical College.
Delhi Fire Service received a call at 11:22 pm. First 7-8 vehicles were sent. But the fire was so terrible that the number of vehicles had to be increased to 24. Divisional Officer Mukesh Verma said that the fire has been completely controlled. There was no loss of life there either.
There were not only slums in the area of Valmiki Colony. There were also many warehouses and places to keep plywood. Due to the abundance of wood and temporary structures, the fire took a huge form within a moment. Fire personnel faced a lot of difficulty in extinguishing the fire.
At present both the accidents are under investigation. What was the real reason for the fire is being ascertained. The administration is keeping an eye on the affected areas. Also, people have been asked to remain alert. The risk of fire in slums increases due to heat and short circuits.
