New Delhi: The vigilance of the Delhi Police against criminals in the capital was once again on display. The Hauz Qazi police station team (Central District) solved a case of a knife-point robbery—involving the theft of Rs 1,200—within just 24 hours, arresting the accused, Shiva Khanna (alias Shiva). The police recovered the knife allegedly used in the crime, along with Rs 800. According to the police, the accused is a "declared active criminal" under the jurisdiction of the Hauz Qazi police station, with a prior record of 18 criminal cases, including charges related to murder, theft, assault, illegal possession of weapons, and violations of the Excise Act.

From secret intelligence to CCTV: Police tighten the net

Central District DCP Rohit Rajveer Singh stated that on October 22, following a complaint from an individual who was robbed of Rs 1,200 at knifepoint, an FIR (No. 428/2026) was registered at the Hauz Qazi police station under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Given the seriousness of the incident, the team from the Himmatgarh police outpost immediately launched an investigation. Through a combination of secret intelligence, analysis of CCTV footage, and persistent efforts, the police managed to track down the accused.

During the investigation, on October 23, a trap was laid near the Hamdard roundabout on Asaf Ali Road to apprehend the accused. According to the police, the accused attempted to flee but was pursued and captured by the team. A search led to the recovery of the knife allegedly used in the crime and Rs 800 in cash.

Linked to a murder case as well

According to police records, 32-year-old Shiva Khanna—a resident of Himmatgarh, Sitaram Bazar, Delhi—has a long-standing criminal history. In addition to a murder case registered against him in 2011, he has a history of involvement in various other offenses, including theft, assault, illegal possession of weapons, and violations of the Excise Act. The police are currently examining all facts and evidence related to the present incident.

Key role played by these police personnel

This operation was carried out by a team comprising Sub-Inspector Rajeshwar, Assistant Sub-Inspector Virendra, Head Constable Manoj, and Constables Jaswant and Vinod from the Himmatgarh police outpost. The team operated under the direct supervision of the Station House Officer (SHO) of Hauz Qazi and the overall oversight of the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) for the Kamla Market area. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Rohit Rajbir Singh, further investigation into the case is underway.
