New Delhi: Rohini district police have arrested four alleged members of a vehicle theft gang and recovered four stolen cars, including a Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Mahindra Scorpio-N and Maruti Brezza. Police also seized a Tata Intra vehicle allegedly used to transport car parts, two stolen number plates and tools.

A Network for Stealing Cars and Selling Spare Parts

According to DCP Shashank Jaiswal, the investigation began after an e-FIR was registered over the theft of a Kia Seltos at North Rohini police station. The Anti-Auto Theft Squad (AATS) received information about a warehouse in Sawda village, Kanjhawala, where a stolen car was allegedly being dismantled.

Police arrested Vijay, alias Bhaiyalal, and Kamlesh at the location and recovered a partially dismantled Kia Seltos, tools, number plates and a Tata Intra vehicle. Further investigation led to the recovery of a stolen Scorpio-N.

Police subsequently arrested Amarjeet Singh, alias Chusi, in Fazilka, Punjab. Based on his disclosure, a stolen Hyundai Creta was recovered. On October 14, police arrested Azhar, whose information led to the recovery of a stolen Maruti Brezza.

Accused Had Links to Automobile Businesses

Police said Vijay and Kamlesh had worked as labourers or assistants at car repair shops. Amarjeet Singh was involved in the spare-parts business, while Azhar was unemployed.

According to police records, Vijay had previously been involved in two criminal cases, while Amarjeet Singh and Azhar had nine cases each against them. Azhar was also identified as a history-sheeter at Punjabi Bagh police station.

Five Criminal Cases Solved

Police claimed that the arrests had helped solve five criminal cases. The investigation is continuing to identify other members of the alleged gang and recover additional stolen vehicles.

The operation was conducted by the AATS Rohini team under Inspector Mukesh, with supervision from ACP Operations Ajmer Singh.
