72 Students Seek Shelter Overnight After Satya Niketan Collapse, Colleges Come Forward To Help

New Delhi: After the Satya Niketan accident, many colleges of South Delhi have come forward to help the affected students. Many institutions including Sri Venkateswara College, Ram Lal Anand College and Shaheed Bhagat Singh College have opened their doors for students. The colleges have also made arrangements for accommodation, food and other necessary facilities for the students.

Why were the students given places in the college after the accident?

After the incident of building collapse in Satya Niketan, there is an atmosphere of fear among the students living in PG nearby. In such a situation, the college administration has made arrangements for students to stay in hostels and classrooms to provide safe accommodation. If needed, students studying in other colleges can also come and stay here.

Arrangements for food and accommodation for the students had been made since Sunday evening at Sri Venkateswara College, located near the accident site. The college vacated about 10 rooms and made arrangements for the students to stay.

How many students took shelter in the college?

According to college principal V. Ravi, a total of 46 boys and 26 girls stayed in the college on Sunday night. Most of these students live in PG located around Satya Niketan and were very scared after the accident.

The college administration said that students studying in any college or other institute of DU and living in Satya Niketan can stay in the college if needed.

What arrangements were made for the students in the college?

Along with accommodation, food has also been arranged for the students. Permission has been given to use the college canteen. Academic and non-academic staff and student volunteers are also involved in helping the students.

Principal V. Ravi along with the college staff also spent the night in the college among the students. Its purpose was to give students a feeling of security and trust.

What did the students say after the accident?

Shambhavi, a resident of Bihar, said that she lives in a PG in Satya Niketan. She was very scared after the accident, so she came and stayed in the college for the night. She said that rules related to facilities and security in PG should be strictly followed.

Lakshita, a resident of Agra, said that her family members are also very worried after the accident. Raising questions about the facilities in PG, he said that despite taking money, at many places students do not get adequate facilities.

After the Satya Niketan accident, this initiative of the colleges has brought relief to the students who live in nearby PGs and are feeling unsafe after the incident.
