New Delhi: Dwarka district police’s ‘Operation Vishwas’ continues to yield results in recovering lost and stolen mobile phones in the national capital. In a major achievement, the police recovered 560 lost and stolen mobile phones and returned them to their rightful owners. With this, the total number of lost and stolen mobile phones recovered by Dwarka district police so far in 2026 has crossed 2,200.
The recovered mobile phones were handed over to their owners during a special programme organised at the Dwarka Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) office in the presence of Joint Commissioner of Police, Western Range, Suman Goel. Dwarka DCP Kaushal Pal Singh supervised the initiative and facilitated the process of returning the recovered mobile phones to their rightful owners. The faces of people who had been waiting for a long time to get their phones back lit up with joy as they finally received their belongings.
Dwarka district police also prioritised cases involving women complainants during the special recovery drive. Due to the continuous efforts of the police’s technical and field teams, a large number of mobile phones lost or stolen from women were also recovered and returned to them.
According to the police, the recovery of the mobile phones was not the result of action at the police station level alone. It was achieved through district-level technical surveillance and coordination among various police teams. The police tracked the phones using their IMEI numbers, technical analysis, field verification, coordination with police forces in other states and continuous follow-up to identify the locations of the devices and the people using them.
The Dwarka police operation was not limited to Delhi. Several of the recovered mobile phones were traced to Jammu and Kashmir, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and other states. Police teams coordinated with local authorities in these locations, recovered the devices and completed the process of returning them to their rightful owners.
According to police officials, teams at the police station level, along with the Dwarka District Surveillance Cell, maintained continuous technical surveillance to recover the mobile phones. Information obtained in different cases was analysed collectively, while the movements of the devices were monitored. After necessary verification, the phones were recovered.
The Dwarka District Surveillance Cell also played an important role in the operation. Under the leadership of Assistant Sub-Inspector Jai Bhagwan, Head Constable Bhajan Pal, Constable Anil Kumar and Constable Manoj Kumar worked continuously to trace the mobile phones using technical information and coordinate with the concerned teams.
According to the police, several mobile phones had reached other states. In such cases, the teams coordinated with local police, exchanged technical information and carried out continuous follow-up to recover the devices. After days of effort and the use of technical expertise, a large number of mobile phones were successfully recovered.
Dwarka district police said that the objective of ‘Operation Vishwas’ is not only to recover stolen or lost mobile phones but also to strengthen public confidence in the police.
Mobile phones have become an important part of people’s lives, containing personal information, contacts, banking details and essential documents. Recovering a lost or stolen phone therefore provides relief not only from financial loss but also from concerns about the possible misuse of sensitive information.
During the programme, senior officers appreciated the efforts of the police personnel involved in the recovery drive and encouraged them to continue working with the same dedication. Officials said that similar programmes would be organised regularly in the future so that more people can be reunited with their lost or stolen belongings.
The operation involved Assistant Sub-Inspector Jai Bhagwan, Head Constable Bhajan Pal, Constable Anil Kumar and Constable Manoj Kumar, along with police station-level teams of Dwarka district and the entire Surveillance Cell team.
