New Delhi: As the three year old rape survivor from Delhi’s SS Mota Singh School remains hospitalised after her health deteriorated, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has raised questions over the school’s political links and a missing government file linked to its trust. AAP Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj revealed that records related to trustees of the school had disappeared from the Sub Registrar’s office, even though all entries and exits in a trust are mandatorily documented with the government.
The AAP Delhi Chief also pointed to a deleted Facebook post in which Amarjeet Singh Babbu publicly thanked minister Parvesh Verma for making him a trustee of the school trust. He revealed that whenever the victim’s parents visited the police station, they found school manager Manjeet Singh Aulakh, said to be close to minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa, present there, while demanding that the Delhi government make the school’s trust records public.
Addressing a press conference, AAP Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj stated, “In the S S Mota Singh Public School case, where a three year old girl was raped by an official of the school itself, the child was taken by her family to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital, where her medical examination was conducted at around 2:15 at night. The doctor conducting the medical examination had told the girl’s mother that the child’s hymen had ruptured, but later this was not mentioned in the medical report.”
He continued, “After that, the girl’s condition was not improving. She had drastically reduced eating and drinking, and was even facing difficulty while passing urine. The family got an ultrasound done, which also showed serious complications. On Thursday, the child’s condition deteriorated so much that she had to be admitted to the hospital.”
The AAP Delhi State President noted, “The parents are in such distress that they are calling and asking what they will do if there is a financial problem and the government does not aid. We have told the family not to worry about money, that they will not be allowed to face any difficulty and should only focus on treatment. But it is extremely shameful that in the national capital Delhi, such a situation has happened to an innocent child who simply went to school.”
Speaking about the child’s condition, Saurabh Bharadwaj said, “Right now, it is not known exactly how the child is doing, but she was admitted to the hospital last night and is still admitted there. The child has been diagnosed with a severe infection. But the irony is that the accused was granted bail by the court just a few days ago.”
Targeting the Delhi government’s response, he stated, “On Thursday, Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood spoke on this matter for the first time, even though this is a well known school in his own Janakpuri area. The school is just two minutes away from his house, so he cannot claim that he does not know this school.”
Saurabh Bharadwaj pointed out, “In March, Ashish Sood himself organised a grand bhajan clubbing event inside this school through the Delhi Government. Thousands of people attended it and lakhs, or perhaps even crores of rupees, may have been spent on it. The government never reveals the expenditure and does not even disclose it in the Assembly. CM Rekha Gupta and Ashish Sood were both present at that event. Governments do not organise such large scale programmes in unknown schools using public money.”
The AAP Delhi Chief revealed, “On Thursday, Ashish Sood made a disgraceful statement. He said that Saurabh Bharadwaj should tell which BJP leader or minister has bought stakes in this school. When the Education Minister is from BJP, the Revenue Minister is from BJP, the Chief Minister is from BJP and the Sub Registrar office is also under them, then where will Saurabh Bharadwaj get the papers from? The documents are with the BJP government itself.”
“A trust generally consists of five to seven people who run the school. The trust running SS Mota Singh School is called S.S. Mota Singh (Nila) Charitable Trust. This trust owns properties worth nearly ₹500 crore. It has 7.5 acres in Paschim Vihar, around two and a half acres in Janakpuri and another separate 500 yard plot. The game in school trusts works like this: two trustees resign and two new people come in. Then two more resign and two more are inducted. Gradually, the old trustees disappear and new trustees take over, out of whom one person eventually becomes chairman,” he added.
Saurabh Bharadwaj revealed that in this way, property worth ₹500 crore moves from one set of hands to another and all the transactions happen in black money and cash. Nobody simply hands over a trust for free and leaves for Haridwar. The transactions in such trusts happen in black money, even though ideally there should be no such dealings because these are called non profit organisations.
Questioning recent changes in the trust, he asked, “Who left this trust and who entered it after the BJP government came to power in the last one year? Only CM Rekha Gupta or Ashish Sood can answer this. The government has the file and this information has to be submitted before the Sub Registrar regarding which trustee exited and who entered. When we checked with the Sub Registrar, where any citizen can inspect files by paying a fee, we were told that the file had gone missing. Everyone understands why that file has been made to disappear.”
Showing some documents, the AAP Delhi Unit President said, “In April this year, a man named Amarjeet Singh Babbu, who is said to be close to BJP minister Parvesh Verma, made a Facebook post. In that post, he thanked Delhi’s popular minister Parvesh Verma for making him a trustee of SS Mota Singh School’s (Nila) Charitable Trust and also tagged Parvesh Verma in the post. A man is publicly thanking Delhi minister Parvesh Verma for making him a trustee. The question is whether this is Parvesh Verma’s trust and what connection does he have with this trust that he can appoint trustees? Shortly afterwards, the Facebook post was deleted.”
He continued, “That Facebook post had two things. One was a photograph of Amarjeet Singh Babbu with Parvesh Verma. Second, a letterhead of the trust was also uploaded along with the post. It stated that four new people were being given membership of the trust for fulfilling the trust’s objectives and development. These four people included Prof. Dr Virendra Kumar Aggrawal, Swati Garg, Amarjeet Singh and Manish Gupta.”
He added, “The name Manish Gupta sounds familiar, but his address or phone number is not known, so it is unclear why he was brought into this trust. Swati Garg could also be an educationist or someone close to a political leader. Amarjeet Singh’s identity became known because he himself uploaded the Facebook post thanking Parvesh Verma.”
Saurabh Bharadwaj further said, “Some evidence of the political connection repeatedly mentioned by the victim’s family is already in the public domain. Another political connection is with Manjeet Singh Aulakh. His photograph with BJP minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa is available and it is said that both are quite close. The girl’s mother said that whenever they were called to the police station, Manjeet Singh Aulakh was often seen speaking with the police there.”
He further stated, “When we looked about Manjeet Singh Aulakh on the internet, information showed that he is the manager of this school’s Janakpuri branch. School authorities said that the principal functions like an employee, whereas the entire administration of the school is handled by the manager. The frequent presence of Manjeet Singh Aulakh, who is close to BJP minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa, at the police station speaking with police officials proves that there is indeed a political connection.”
“Ashish Sood should reveal the truth about this trust. Why is he hiding it? If there is nothing to hide, then make the file public. This is a public record and there is nothing secret about it. The government should release the file showing who entered this school trust and who left it, so that everything becomes clear before the public. It is possible that the family is under the impression that due to political reasons the police suppressed the matter, acted loosely and the accused received bail,” he added.
The AAP Delhi Chief concluded by stating, “That three year old girl is still in the hospital today. Her mother said that she still used to wear diapers while going to school and could not even go to the toilet on her own. Even on the day of the incident, she was wearing a diaper. Such sinful and monstrous people removed that child’s diaper and committed this heinous act, while the police are threatening her parents. For the last 14 days, the child has not been able to eat or drink, has not been able to use the toilet and has been continuously vomiting.”
