New Delhi: Dense fog and poor visibility led to severe disruption of traffic on the Delhi-Sonipat road when several vehicles collided near Haryana's Bahalgarh on Monday. At least one person was reportedly killed in the incident.
Eyewitnesses told the media that a total of three cars were involved in the accident, which saw a speeding vehicle ram into another due to poor visibility before a third car also collided with one of the damaged vehicles.
"First, one car hit another car. Then, one of the cars drove away, and the other remained stationary and damaged. A little while later, another car came and hit the damaged car from behind," the eyewitness told the media.
This is the latest traffic disruption to hit northern India during the ongoing winter season.
Earlier, a thick blanket of fog led to two severe accidents on the Delhi-Mathura National Highway in the Faridabad district of Haryana including one near the Sector 28 Metro Station.
The India Meteorological Department has issued a warning regarding dense fog across Haryana, Delhi, Chandigarh and Punjab.
A red alert has been sounded in Delhi due to fog and poor visibility.
