Ravana, blinded by pride in his power, wealth and army, refused to accept the advice (Rimpi Jindal)
Ratia: The historic Ramlila organised by Shakti Natak Club in the Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Gurudwara Ground in Shakti Nagar, Ratia, captivated audiences on Monday night with powerful performances depicting key episodes from the Ramayana. Angad’s display of strength in Ravana’s royal court and the emotional scene of Lakshman falling unconscious during the battle of Lanka emerged as major highlights of the evening.
Several prominent personalities attended the programme as guests, while the performances drew enthusiastic responses from spectators.
One of the most engaging episodes depicted Angad entering Ravana’s court in Lanka as a messenger of Lord Shri Ram. Angad conveyed Shri Ram’s message and urged Ravana to return Mata Sita and seek forgiveness for his wrongdoing.
However, Ravana, blinded by pride in his power, wealth and army, refused to accept the advice. He dismissed Angad’s warning and insulted Lord Shri Ram and the Vanar Sena.
Angad then challenged Ravana’s court by firmly placing his foot on the ground and declaring that anyone who could move it would prove the strength of Ravana’s side. Despite the courtiers’ attempts, no one could move Angad’s foot. The powerful dialogue and dramatic confrontation generated considerable excitement among the audience.
Another emotionally charged episode portrayed the fierce battle between Lord Shri Ram’s army and Ravana’s forces. Ravana’s son Meghnad, also known as Indrajit, entered the battlefield and fought Lakshman.
During the encounter, Meghnad used the powerful Shakti weapon against Lakshman, causing him to fall unconscious. The scene depicting Lord Shri Ram’s concern for his younger brother moved the audience.
As Lakshman’s condition became critical, physician Sushena explained that a life-saving herb, Sanjeevani Booti, had to be brought from the Dronagiri mountain in the Himalayas before sunrise.
The responsibility of obtaining the medicinal herb fell to Lord Hanuman. Demonstrating his devotion to Lord Shri Ram and determination to save Lakshman, Hanuman set out for the mountain.
His dramatic return carrying the mountain through the sky was among the most visually striking moments of the performance. Music, devotional chants and powerful dialogues added to the impact of the scene.
After physician Sushena administered the medicinal herb, Lakshman regained consciousness, bringing relief and happiness to Lord Shri Ram and the entire Vanar Sena. The episode concluded with the army preparing for the decisive phase of the battle against Ravana.
The programme was attended by Naina Devi Langar Committee chairman Fateh Chand Sardana, former Arorvansh Sabha president Ashok Grover, Punjabi Sabha treasurer Sanjay Makkar, CM Window nominated representative Anju Jagga, Praveen Jagga, former councillor Pramod Kakkar, Param Computer owner Yogesh Chaudhary, Deepak Nagpal of Chandigarh, Rajan Kakkar and other members of Gurdwara Shri Dashmesh Darbar Committee.
