Ratia: The Public Health Engineering Department organised a special awareness campaign today in Ward No. 15 and the Employees' Colony of Ratia town as part of an urban water conservation initiative. The campaign was led by the department’s District Consultant, Sharma Chand Lali, and Junior Engineer, Amandeep Singh. During the drive, citizens were sensitised about the importance of water conservation and urged to regularise any unauthorised drinking water or sewerage connections as soon as possible.
During the campaign, the departmental team explained to residents that it is the responsibility of every citizen to make judicious use of a precious natural resource like drinking water. Citizens were encouraged to cooperate with the department to prevent water wastage, ensure the proper use of drinking water connections, and maintain the smooth functioning of the sewerage system.
District Consultant Sharma Chand Lali stated that, thanks to a government-granted exemption on 'road-cut' charges, the cost of regularising water and sewerage connections—which previously amounted to approximately ₹12,000—has now been reduced to just ₹1,500. He urged city residents to take advantage of this special concession to regularise their unauthorised connections and avoid any potential departmental action in the future.
He emphasised that the exemption on road-cut charges is available only for a limited period. Therefore, citizens should take this opportunity seriously and get their connections regularised in a timely manner. Instead of waiting until the last minute, residents are advised to contact the department and complete the necessary procedures. Clean Water and Sewerage Systems: A Collective Responsibility
Sharma Chand Lali stated that providing clean drinking water and maintaining an organized sewerage system is a collective responsibility, shared by both the department and the general public. Every household should use water judiciously—only as much as is needed—and help prevent leaks and unnecessary wastage.
Junior Engineer Amandeep Singh also urged citizens to ensure that their drinking water and sewerage connections are duly authorised in accordance with the prescribed regulations and to actively participate in the water conservation campaign currently being conducted by the department. Present during the campaign were Sharma Chand Lali, District Consultant, Public Health Engineering Department, Fatehabad; Junior Engineer Amandeep Singh; and several other staff members, including Pawan Kumar, Dinesh Kumar, Rahul, Nafe Singh, Gagan Singh, Shri Ram, and Ram Meher Singh.
