Bhagwat Katha Day 6: Krishna’s Childhood Leelas, Cow Service and Saints’ Darshan Highlighted (Rimpi Jindal)

Haryana: An atmosphere of deep devotion was witnessed on the sixth day of the Shrimad Bhagwat Week-long Gyan Yagya, organised by the Shri Krishna Gaushala Committee for the service of cows during Pitru Paksha at the local Shri Krishna Gaushala. The religious event was held under the blessings of Sant Baba Babu Ram Ji of Duggal and Sant Baba Karam Chand Ji of Bachhuana, and in the pious presence of Sant Shiromani Shri Narayan Muni Ji. A large number of devotees gathered at the Bhagwat Katha venue.

Renowned Bhagwat storyteller Acharya Shri Ram Sevak Shastri Ji of Kalwana, seated on the Vyas Peeth, began the sixth day's discourse by elaborating on the importance of food and devotional singing. He said that food holds great importance in life. As the saying goes, “As is the food, so is the mind.” If the food we consume is pure and sattvic, our minds will also remain pure, and devotion performed with a pure mind reaches the feet of the Lord. He said that people should always consume food earned through hard work and honesty.

During the day's discourse, Sant Shiromani Shri Narayan Muni Ji Maharaj of Duggal and Sant Shiromani Shri Bachhuana Wale Maharaj Ji blessed the devotees with their darshan.

Describing the importance of having the darshan of saints, Acharya Ji said that the opportunity to have the darshan of saints comes only through great fortune. He said that receiving the darshan of a saint even once is considered equivalent to earning the merit of visiting millions of pilgrimage sites. Saints show people the true path to attaining God, and association with saints helps free a person from the difficulties of life.

Highlighting the importance of serving cows, he said that in the present age, there is no greater service than cow service. According to Hindu religious belief, 33 crore deities reside in the cow. He said that a household where a cow is served never faces a shortage of wealth and food. He added that serving cows during Pitru Paksha is believed to help ancestors attain salvation and bring peace to their souls.

Thereafter, Acharya Ji gave a vivid and emotional narration of Lord Krishna's enchanting childhood pastimes, including the butter-stealing episode, the Ukhal Bandhan Leela, Govardhan Leela and the subduing of Kaliya Nag.

Describing the glory of the people of Braj, he said that nowhere in the world can one find love as pure and selfless as that of the people of Braj. The people of Braj gave up everything and loved only Krishna, while the Lord Himself is said to be devoted to the love of His devotees.

During the discourse, devotees danced joyfully to devotional songs such as “Makhan Mishri Khave Lala…” and “Vrindavan Ki Mahima Nyari…”. The entire pandal echoed with chants of “Radhe-Radhe.”

On this auspicious occasion, the mother of prominent social worker Praveen Garg distributed copies of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita free of cost to all devotees present for their spiritual benefit. The initiative was widely appreciated.

The Gaushala president and all executive committee members, representatives of various religious and social organisations from the city, and a large number of devotees were present on the occasion.
