Haryana: A reunion of old friends who once sat together in school classrooms and played together in the streets during their childhood turned into an emotional and memorable occasion after nearly three to four decades. After a long gap, a gathering of old friends was organised at Ram Park in Ratia, bringing cherished childhood memories back to life.

During the reunion, the friends not only shared their old experiences and memories but also resolved to maintain their friendship and family bonding in the future.

The special gathering was made possible through the efforts of Anil Jhandai, Pramod Thakkar and Rajesh Thakkar, who had completed their education in Ratia before 1990 and later settled in Delhi and the NCR region for business purposes.

After reaching Ratia, instead of visiting each old friend individually, they contacted everyone over the phone and invited them to gather at one place. It was subsequently decided to organise the reunion at Ram Park.

The programme was conducted by international announcer Dharmendra Goswami, who introduced all the participants and made the long-awaited reunion even more memorable.

Anil Jhandai, who travelled from Delhi to Ratia, entertained the gathering with humorous jokes and anecdotes from their childhood. His witty narration of old experiences left the participants laughing.

During the reunion, the friends also paid special tribute to Amir Chand Bajaj, the late headmaster of Happy Model School. Remembering the education and values he imparted to his students, the participants paid tribute to his contribution.

Anil Jhandai also presented humorous anecdotes from the student days of Kalu Khanna, representative of the Municipal Council Chairperson.

Pramod Thakkar brought back memories of Ratia's old streets and their childhood days through poetry. Meanwhile, Vidyasagar Baghla humorously linked the chanting of “Om” with the taste of momos, leaving the gathering in splits. The friends then joined in chanting “Om” amid laughter and a cheerful atmosphere.

On the occasion, the old friends felt that the distance created over the years due to busy schedules and settling in different places needed to be bridged. They unanimously decided to organise a similar reunion in Ratia every three months to strengthen friendship, brotherhood and family bonds.

Old friends settled in Delhi-NCR and other places will also be informed and invited to participate in the next meeting.

The friends said that spending some time with childhood companions amid the hectic pace of life brings a special kind of joy. Such reunions not only revive old memories but can also help connect the younger generation with the values of friendship, affection and brotherhood.

Those present at the reunion included Harbans Mehta, Jugal Kishore, Kalu Khanna, Dharmendra Goswami, Krishna Taneja, Narendra Bajaj, Pappu Mehta, Bhuvnesh Jhandai, Satish Chopra, Swaran Singh Shammi, Shyam Taneja, Raj Kumar, Raju Mehta, Ramesh Kumar, Shiv Wadhwa, Dinesh Taneja, Naveen Chopra, Ashwani Girdhar and many other old friends.
