According to the police, the seized pills fall under the category of "commercial quantity," with an estimated market value of approximately ₹7 lakh. The seizure comprises 6,000 Tramadol pills and 3,600 Alprazolam pills. The accused has been identified as Khajan Singh, son of Fauja Singh, a resident of Mahmada village in Fatehabad district. He will be produced before the honourable court.
DSP Ratia Kulwant Singh stated that police teams are continuously active in curbing the illegal trade of narcotics under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Nikita Khattar. As part of these efforts, on October 9, a police team led by Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Jyoti Prasad—in-charge of the Mahmada police post—was patrolling the Dhani Babanpur village area for crime prevention. During this time, the police received a tip-off that Khajan Singh, a resident of Mahmada village who practices medicine in Badalgarh village, was involved in the illegal sale of narcotic pills. The information indicated that the accused was about to transport a large consignment of these pills to the Birewala area of Punjab for supply. The DSP stated that upon receiving the information, the police team acted swiftly and conducted an operation near the Ravidas Dharamshala in Badalgarh village. During the operation, a man was spotted approaching while carrying a blue and black bag. Upon seeing the police vehicle, he suddenly turned around and began walking away briskly.
Acting on suspicion, the police team intercepted and apprehended him. During questioning, he identified himself as Khajan Singh. The accused and his bag were searched in the presence of independent witnesses and DSP Bhuna Narsingh, following due legal procedure. During the search, 6,000 Tramadol tablets (across 600 strips) and 3,600 Alprazolam tablets (across 240 strips) were recovered from the bag. The Tramadol tablets weighed 1 kg 636 grams, and the Alprazolam tablets weighed 722 grams. Thus, the police recovered a total of 9,600 narcotic tablets weighing 2 kg 358 grams. Their estimated market value is reported to be around ₹7 lakh.
The DSP stated that the police sealed the recovered narcotic tablets and took them into custody in accordance with the rules. A case (FIR No. 218, dated 09.10.2026) has been registered against the accused at Police Station Sadar Ratia under Section 22C/61/85 of the NDPS Act, and further investigation has commenced. DSP Kulwant Singh mentioned that an intensive, ongoing campaign against drug trafficking is being conducted under the guidance of Superintendent of Police (SP) Nikita Khattar and the leadership of Station House Officer (SHO) Sadar Ratia, Shishpal. Police teams are cracking down on individuals involved in the illegal drug trade by conducting patrols, maintaining surveillance, and acting on secret information within the station's jurisdiction. The recovery of these 9,600 narcotic tablets marks a significant achievement under this campaign. He added that serious efforts are being made to effectively curb the illegal sale and purchase of drugs and to uncover the entire network involved in the trafficking.
The DSP noted that, under the guidance of SP Nikita Khattar, special emphasis is being placed on breaking the drug supply chain. With this objective, the police are now working to ascertain where the accused procured such a large quantity of narcotic pills, to whom in Punjab they were intended to be delivered, and who else is involved in this illicit trade. If the involvement of any other individual comes to light during the investigation, strict legal action will be taken against them in accordance with the law.
DSP Kulwant Singh stated that the objective of the Fatehabad Police is not limited merely to the seizure of narcotics and the arrest of the accused; rather, the aim is to reach the roots of the illicit drug trade and dismantle its entire supply chain. The campaign against drug trafficking is continuing with full commitment under the leadership of Superintendent of Police Nikita Khattar, IPS. He made it clear that the illegal drug trade in the district will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
He appealed to the general public to immediately inform the police about any activity related to the illegal sale or trafficking of narcotics. Public cooperation will further strengthen efforts to take effective action against drug traffickers and realise the goal of a drug-free Fatehabad.
