Gandhi Jayanti: Jan Seva Sankalp Promotes Water Conservation and Cleanliness (Rimpi Jindal)

Haryana: On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Jal Arpan Diwas (Water Offering Day) was observed across all gram panchayats in Fatehabad district under the Jan Seva Sankalp initiative. Awareness programmes were organised in various villages to highlight the importance of water conservation, cleanliness, and safe drinking water.

As part of the initiative, Jal Arpan programmes were organised by the Public Health Engineering Department in Chando Kalan and Burj. Officials from the department, including Amandeep Singh, Chhotu Ram, Durgesh Kumar, Junior Engineer, and Block Coordinator Kuldeep Kumar, were present at the programmes.

Anganwadi workers, students, and villagers participated in the events. The participants were made aware of the importance of conserving water, maintaining cleanliness, and using drinking water responsibly.

Awareness on Water Conservation

Department officials explained the importance of water to villagers and students, saying that water is the foundation of life and that saving every drop is everyone's responsibility. They appealed to villagers to prevent the wastage of drinking water, use water only as required, and keep water sources clean.

During the programme, students and villagers were encouraged to turn water conservation into a people's movement. They were also urged to avoid unnecessary use of water at home and motivate others to save water.

Block Coordinator Kuldeep Kumar said that the objective of Jal Arpan Diwas is to increase awareness about water conservation and cleanliness in rural areas and encourage more people to join the campaign to save water.

At the end of the programme, the participating Anganwadi workers, students, and villagers took a pledge to conserve water, maintain cleanliness, and prevent the wastage of drinking water.
