Haryana: Haryana has received a major honour at the 10th Senior National Gatka Championship, held at the renowned Sher-e-Kashmir Indoor Stadium in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir.

At the prestigious championship, Titu Gill, State General Secretary of the Congress Confederation, was invited by the Gatka Federation of India as a special guest. He was honoured on stage from the opening ceremony through the medal ceremony, which he described as a matter of pride for the entire state of Haryana.

What did Titu Gill say while interacting with journalists?

Speaking to journalists, Titu Gill said that players from across the country participated in the national championship, but the athletes from Haryana made a distinct mark. Haryana players delivered impressive performances in various categories, including Free Soti, Single Soti and Farri Soti, and won several medals.

He said the occasion brought him double happiness. On one hand, he was honoured as a guest, while on the other, his daughter also put up an impressive performance at the championship, winning a silver medal in the Free Soti event and bringing pride to Haryana.

What did he say about the achievements?

Titu Gill said the achievement was the result of the hard work of Gatka Association Haryana. He said the association's campaign to reach villages across the state and encourage children to take up this traditional Sikh martial art is now showing results at the national level.

He said Gatka is no longer just a sport but has become an important symbol of our cultural identity. Young people from Fatehabad district and across Haryana are increasingly taking up the sport, sending a positive message of choosing sports and staying away from drugs.

At the end, he expressed his gratitude to the Gatka Federation of India and Gatka Association Haryana.
