Haryana: As part of an ongoing campaign against illegal arms possession and criminal activities, Ratia Police arrested two accused persons in two separate operations. Police recovered two country-made pistols, five live cartridges and a Hyundai i10 car from their possession.
Cases have been registered against both accused under the Arms Act at City Ratia Police Station, and investigations are underway.
DSP Ratia Kulwant Singh said the first operation was carried out by the CIA Ratia police team near the Ghaggar River on the Tohana Road bypass. The police team was patrolling the area when they spotted a car approaching from the Budhlada Road side.
On seeing the police vehicle, the driver suddenly attempted to turn the car towards the Tohana bypass, but the vehicle stalled. Suspecting something unusual, the police apprehended the driver and searched him.
The accused was identified as Babbu alias Popal, son of Gora Singh, a resident of Ward No. 4, Purani Gaushala Mohalla, Ratia. During the search, police recovered a .32-bore country-made pistol and four live cartridges from his trouser pocket. The police also seized the car bearing registration number HR10R-9989.
A case has been registered at City Ratia Police Station under FIR No. 208, dated September 29, 2026, under Sections 25/54/59 of the Arms Act.
According to police records, 21 cases have been registered against Babbu alias Popal at City Ratia Police Station. These include cases related to assault, threats, the NDPS Act, the Arms Act and other offences. Police said cases have been registered against him continuously since 2019.
In the second operation, City Ratia Police acted near the Sukhmani Canal Branch on Fatehabad Road. The police team was patrolling the area when a young man allegedly tried to hide behind a tree after noticing the police vehicle.
The police apprehended him on suspicion and conducted a search. The accused was identified as Nitish, son of Niru Kumar, a resident of Ward No. 12, Arora Colony, Ratia.
During the search, police recovered a .315-bore country-made pistol and one live cartridge from the pocket of his black jeans.
A case has been registered at City Ratia Police Station under FIR No. 207, dated September 29, 2026, under Sections 25/54/59 of the Arms Act.
According to police records, eight cases have been registered against Nitish at City Ratia Police Station. These include cases related to the NDPS Act, assault, robbery and other offences.
DSP Kulwant Singh said both accused are being interrogated. Police are investigating where the weapons came from, who supplied them, and whether they were intended to be used in any criminal activity.
Police said the campaign against people possessing illegal weapons will continue.
