Ratia Police arrested Hardeep Singh alias TD in connection with the alleged theft of five mobile phones from residential houses in Ward No. (Rimpi Jindal)
Ratia: The City Ratia Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the theft of five mobile phones from houses in Ward No. 5 of Ratia. The action was taken as part of an ongoing campaign to curb theft and apprehend individuals involved in criminal activities under the direction of Superintendent of Police Nikita Khatkar, IPS.
The accused has been identified as Hardeep Singh alias TD, son of Darshan Singh, a resident of Ward No. 3 in Ratia. Police said he would be produced before the court.
City Ratia Police Station in-charge Sub-Inspector Praveen Kumar said a woman from Kalar Colony in Ward No. 5 had lodged a complaint reporting the theft.
According to the complaint, the woman was sleeping at home with her family on the night of September 17, 2026. At around 1.30 am, her mobile phone and her husband's phone were lying on a chair beside their cot. However, when they woke up in the morning, both phones were missing.
The complainant further stated that three mobile phones had also been stolen from the homes of two other residents in the neighbourhood during the same period. In total, five mobile phones were reportedly stolen by an unidentified person.
The affected families initially attempted to trace the stolen phones and identify the person responsible. They subsequently approached the police and filed a complaint.
Based on the complaint, City Ratia Police registered FIR No. 219 on October 16, 2026, under Sections 305 and 331(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and initiated an investigation.
Acting on the complaint and subsequent investigation, police apprehended Hardeep Singh alias TD in connection with the case.
The police said a detailed investigation is underway to establish the circumstances of the theft and gather further evidence. The accused is expected to be presented before the court for further legal proceedings.
