'India Will Become Khalistan': Several Ahmedabad Schools Receive Bomb Threat Emails; Searches Underway (x)

Ahmedabad: Several schools in Gujarat's capital Ahmedabad received bomb threat emails on Monday morning, which triggered panic among students, parents, and school authorities, after which an immediate response from security agencies were rushed to the locations, official said.

The official said that the threatening email mentioned that it will "turn India into Khalistan".

Authorities responded immediately, sending police, bomb disposal teams and fire tenders to investigate the matter.

Which schools received the mail?

"Several schools in Ahmedabad received bomb threats through email. The threat mail also mentioned 'turning India into Khalistan'," Ahmedabad District Education Officer said.

Seventeen schools in Ahmedabad and Vadodara have received bomb threats via email. 

About seven schools in the Gujarat's capital Ahmedabad which received threatening emails, include:

  • DAV International School
  • Asia School
  • A-One School
  • Ankur International School
  • Sant Kabir School
  • Silver Bell School
  • Tulip International School

About 10 schools in the Vadodara city and district which received threatening emails, include:

  • D.R. Amin (Vasna Road)
  • Urmi School (Samasavli Road)
  • Nalanda (Waghodia Road)
  • Baroda High School (Bagikhana)
  • Navyug English Medium (Sama)
  • Jeevan Sadhana (Nagarwada)
  • EWS (Dabhoi)
  • Shannen (Khodiyarnagar)
  • GPS (Waghodia)
  • Bright Day (Vasna)

The threatening message reportedly stated, “Gujarat Khalistan banega aur Hindustan ke tukde honge.” and the email warned that the schools would be attacked at 1:11 pm.

How did authorities respond?

Police teams, including bomb detection squads and firefighters, rushed to the affected schools to carry out checks. 

Is there any confirmation of a real threat?

Officials said that the warnings are being treated seriously. The schools were evacuated as a precautionary measure. Bomb detection and disposal squads, along with dog squads, are carrying out extensive searches.

Are these bomb threats common?

Last week, several schools in Delhi received a same bomb threat via email,  which said that the national capital will be turned into Khalistan and soon after receiving information about it, police thoroughly searched the premises.

The threat email also claimed that a blast would take place in Parliament on February 13 at 1:11 pm.
