Tumakuru: A shocking incident has come to light from Tumakuru district of Karnataka. A 30-year-old man, who kidnapped a woman, was burned alive in a massive car explosion just moments after the woman he allegedly abducted escaped from the moving vehicle.
The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday near Jogihalli in Sira taluk of Tumakuru district, when a car travelling on National Highway-48 suddenly exploded and burst into flames. The deceased has been identified as Nagendra, a native of Ankola living in Bengaluru. The woman and the cab driver, Praveen were also injured in the incident and are undergoing treatment at the Tumakuru District Hospital.
According to the police, Nagendra and the woman, an OT technician in Bengaluru, were previously in a relationship and had recently separated. The police said that the woman had recently blocked Nagendra's phone number following personal differences.
As per reports, the man was allegedly pressuring the woman to marry him, even though she had refused. The woman, an OT technician at Bengaluru's Sanjay Gandhi Hospital, had blocked Nagendra's phone after a dispute.
On Saturday morning, Nagendra confronted the woman at her rented accommodation in Bengaluru's Jayanagar after an argument and then later forcibly took her away in a yellow-board Uber cab.
Police said that Nagendra threatened to kill the woman multiple times inside the car. He said, "I'll kill you first, and then I'll kill myself." Police suspect Nagendra also showed the woman objects resembling petrol bombs.
According to reports, as soon as the car reached Jogihalli, Nagendra stabbed the woman with a knife. The driver panicked and immediately stopped the car. The woman, taking the opportunity, got out of the car. However, within moments, the car exploded in a massive explosion, burning Nagendra alive.
Police said a bomb-like explosive material was found inside the car. A case has been registered at the Jaynagar police station based on a complaint from the woman's parents. The exact cause of the explosion will be revealed after an investigation. Police are currently investigating the entire matter.
