Siddaramaiah Resigns As Chief Minister Of Karnataka (X)
Bengaluru: Following a high-level meeting convened by the state government earlier in the day, Siddaramaiah on Thursday resigned as the Chief Minister of Karnataka and submitted his resignation letter to the Governor’s special secretary as Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot was not in Bengaluru.
Siddaramaiah went to Lok Bhavan on Thursday and submitted his resignation to the Governor's Secretary.
After stepping down from the top post, Siddaramaiah told reporters, "Since Guv Thaawarchand Gehlot is not in city, I gave my resignation letter to his special secretary."

Special Secretary to the Karnataka Governor, Prabhu Shankar, said that the resignation of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has been received, but can only be accepted by the Governor upon his return. Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot had earlier left for his residence in Nagda, Madhya Pradesh, earlier in the day.

While addressing the media at Lok Bhavan after submitting his resignation, Siddaramaiah said, “I’ve told you all many times, when the high command asks me to resign, I will resign. Two days back, the high command asked me to step down. I told them I’ll resign today. Hence I’ve resigned.”

“Once the Chief Minister resigns, the Governor has to accept it and make way for the new CM. It’s his responsibility,” Siddaramaiah said.
