Controversy in MP: Ex-MLA’s Sharp Words Against Rambhadracharya, Anirudhacharya Spark Uproar (X)
Bhopal: Former Madhya Pradesh MLA R D Prajapati on Sunday made sharp and provocative remarks against well-known guru Rambhadracharya and Katha Vachak Anirudhacharya during a public convention in state capital.
While addressing a large OBC-SC-ST joint convention in Bhopal, former MLA from Chandla in Chhattarpur district, criticised several religious figures, including Rambhadracharya, Dhirendra Shastri and Aniruddhacharya, saying they had used offensive language about women.
Prajapati said these preachers should be publicly humiliated by being paraded "naked with shoe garlands", a remark that has shocked many observers.
Targeting Rambhadracharya indirectly, he said that a 'Andhacharya' (blind saint) had claimed that word "WIFE" means, "Wonderful Instrument for Fun and Enjoyment," and said that "you too have been born from an enjoyable mother... that is why your eyes got damaged."
Prajapati also targeted Aniruddhacharya and said that one Baba, who applies lipstick, claims "that girls of age 25 attend religious sermons to enjoy their youthfulness". He demanded that these preachers should be publicly humiliated by being paraded "naked with shoe garlands"
Targeting Anirudhacharya and Dhirendra Shastri, he also took aim at comments attributed to these speakers about women, including comparing sisters and daughters to plots of land in derogatory terms. Prajapati argued such language was unacceptable and hurtful to women and society.
The backlash was immediate. Political leaders and social activists condemned Prajapati’s words as disrespectful and insensitive.
Many are questioning whether a former public representative should use such language from the podium of a major public meeting.
Some groups are demanding action against Prajapati for his remarks, saying they may hurt social harmony.
Prajapati made the remarks during a convention aimed at drawing attention to issues of caste and reservation. The event was meant to show solidarity among OBC, SC and ST communities in Madhya Pradesh. But his comments about religious figures and their alleged statements on women shifted the focus to a broader controversy.
