Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh Labour Department has embarked on a new phase of reforms by adopting technology-driven and worker-centric approaches to improve the quality of life of labourers across the state. Moving beyond traditional systems, the department is now focusing on innovation, transparency, and inclusive growth to ensure dignity, safety, and better living standards for workers.

As the Madhya Pradesh Government completes two years of its current tenure, several innovative initiatives of the Labour Department have begun delivering visible results on the ground. The department aims to transform the lives of workers over the next three years through original and forward-looking schemes, with the SHREE initiative marking a significant beginning in this direction.

While addressing the media in Bhopal on the occasion of the government’s two-year achievements, Labour and Panchayat Minister Prahlad Singh Patel highlighted the department’s key accomplishments, innovations, and future roadmap. A booklet showcasing the department’s achievements and upcoming plans was also released on the occasion.

Labour Star Rating: A transformative initiative

The Labour Star Rating system is a pioneering initiative designed to benefit both industries and workers. Under this system, industries will be evaluated based on parameters such as wages paid to workers, social security and welfare benefits, workplace safety and facilities, and the quality of products and services. Based on this assessment, establishments will be awarded a Labour Star Rating.

Industries can use this rating for branding and promotion, which will enhance their credibility and market value. At the same time, consumers will benefit from improved quality, and workers will gain better wages, facilities, and working conditions. The concept is similar to star ratings awarded to hotels and other service establishments.

Factories, shops, and commercial establishments can apply online for the Labour Star Rating through the Sambal portal at https://sambal.mp.gov.in.

SHREE initiative for holistic worker welfare

The SHREE initiative is another major step towards improving the overall condition of workers in Madhya Pradesh. By leveraging resources from various government bodies, the initiative focuses on holistic development in areas such as health, education, entrepreneurship, and workplace environment. The objective is to strengthen and empower human resources, thereby supporting sustainable social and economic development.

Single-window system for grievances and suggestions

To make services more accessible and efficient, the Labour Department is developing a single-window digital software system. This platform will enable workers and citizens to submit grievances, share suggestions, and access relevant information at one place in a simple and transparent manner.

Use of AI and video content for outreach

The Labour Department is also using artificial intelligence and professionally produced video content to spread awareness about government welfare schemes. Short videos and reels in simple language are being shared through the social media platforms of the Madhya Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (MPBOCW), ensuring wider outreach among workers.

Strong foundation for worker-centric governance

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Prahlad Singh Patel stated that over the past two years, the department has adopted a worker-centric approach and achieved several significant milestones, the benefits of which have directly reached workers and their families. These initiatives are expected to set new benchmarks in labour welfare and inclusive growth in Madhya Pradesh in the coming years.
