New Delhi: A highly startling incident has come to light in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, where a 25-year-old man was apprehended on charges of stealing his female neighbour's innerwear. The incident was captured on CCTV footage. Upon identifying and arresting the accused, the police discovered that the motive behind the crime was unrequited love. The accused had even gotten the woman's name tattooed on his chest.

What was the incident?

The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Chimanganj Mandi Police Station in Ujjain. The accused has been identified as Amit Malviya. He resides in close proximity to the complainant's home. In her complaint, the woman stated that she noticed her innerwear missing from outside her house, where she had hung them to dry.

Suspecting foul play, the family members reviewed their CCTV footage. The footage revealed the accused approaching the area where the clothes were drying. According to the complaint, the accused selectively took only the woman's innerwear and stuffed them into his jeans pocket. He then quietly slipped away from the scene, while the rest of the clothes remained hanging exactly as they were.

What did the CCTV footage confirm?

After the CCTV footage confirmed the theft of the innerwear, the woman and her family members visited the Chimanganj Mandi Police Station to file a formal complaint. They also submitted the CCTV footage as evidence. Upon reviewing the footage, the police identified the accused and proceeded to his residential colony, where they took him into custody.

What did the police say?

Gajendra Pacheriya, the in-charge of the Chimanganj Mandi Police Station, stated that during interrogation, the accused confessed to harboring unrequited love for the woman. He further revealed that he had gotten the woman's name tattooed on his chest. A case has been registered against the accused under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
