Ujjain: A very sensational news coming from Madhya Pradesh's Ujjain. Devotees were lining up to attend the Mahakal Bhasma Aarti on around 2 AM Morning. A young man was seen sitting at a tea stall with a woman near Harsiddhi Square. He was having a prominent 'Tripund' on his forehead and a 'Rudraksha' mala around his neck, making him appear like an ordinary Hindu devotee. 'Tripunda' basically used by devoted people towards Lord Shiva.
Surprisingly, the man was later identified as Sarfaraz Sheikh from Pimpri in Maharashtra's Pune district. He had come to Ujjain with a Hindu woman. He was also reportedly planning to attend the Bhasma Aarti.
According to some allegations, some people became suspicious and questioned his identity. It is claimed that he initially introduced himself as a Hindu. Although, documents later showed his name as Sarfaraz Sheikh.
The situation soon escalated. Members of Hindu organizations and Bajrang Dal activists assembled at the spot and began interrogating him. Following the incidents, arguments later turned into a physical confrontation.
A video of the incident has surfaced online. It shows people surrounding Sarfaraz and questioning him over his identity. The video also shows him pleading to be let go. However the people presented there continue to question him.
After the incident, Sarfaraz was handed over to the police. Mahakal police station has started an investigation. Station in-charge Gagan Badal said police are examining all aspects of the case, including the viral video, statements of people present at the scene, and available documents. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
