A horrifying incident shook Mishrauliya village in Muzaffarpur district late Sunday night. A man allegedly killed his three daughters before taking his own life. The deceased were found hanging inside their home. The village woke up to screams and chaos. Neighbours rushed in after hearing cries. The sight left everyone stunned. Grief spread across the area. The incident has deeply disturbed local residents.
Police identified the man as Amarnath Ram, aged around thirty six years. His daughters were Anuradha Kumari aged eleven to twelve, Shivani Kumari around ten, and Radhika Kumari aged seven to eight. The family lived modestly in the village. Amarnath also had two young sons. Both sons survived the suicide attempt. The children had lost their mother earlier. The family situation was already fragile.
Villagers said Amarnath Ram was under heavy financial stress. He reportedly had mounting debts and no stable income. He depended on irregular daily work. Locals also alleged he struggled with alcohol addiction. Stress had reportedly increased in recent months. There were frequent worries about money. Police are treating financial pressure as a key angle. However, the exact motive is still under investigation.
According to preliminary information, the family had dinner together on Sunday night. One of the daughters cooked food for the family. The meal included rice, potatoes, soybean vegetables, and scrambled eggs. Everything appeared normal from outside. No loud argument was reported. Later in the night, the tragic act took place. The suddenness has shocked neighbours. Many said they noticed no warning signs.
Reports say Amarnath asked all his children to stand on a steel trunk. He tied sarees around their necks to make nooses. He allegedly asked them to jump. Shivam, the elder son, felt pain and managed to loosen the cloth. He quickly freed himself. He then removed the noose from his younger brother Chandan’s neck. Both boys escaped death by chance. Their presence of mind saved lives.
After the boys alerted villagers, police were informed immediately. Sakra police reached the spot soon after. The bodies were sent for post-mortem examination. SDPO East-2 Manoj Kumar Singh said the exact cause would be clear after reports. Police are questioning locals and relatives. They are checking financial records and personal history. The case is being investigated from all angles. No conclusion has been drawn yet.
This tragedy has raised serious concerns about mental health and financial distress. It highlights how poverty and debt can push people to extreme steps. Villagers are demanding better support systems. Experts say timely help could prevent such incidents. Authorities are urged to focus on counselling and social aid. The surviving children are under police care. The incident serves as a painful reminder of silent struggles.
