Punjab is witnessing a major transformation in its rural areas, where sports are becoming a strong tool to keep youth away from drugs. The government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, is working quickly to build modern stadiums across villages and give the young generation a new direction.

This change is not just about government rules or plans—it’s about what’s happening on the ground. Young people are leaving behind bad habits and finding new hope through fitness, games, and discipline.

Stadiums in Every Village: A New Chapter Begins

The Punjab government has taken up a big plan to build 10,000 low-cost playgrounds and 3,000 high-quality stadiums. The first phase of work for 3,000 top-grade stadiums has already started.

These stadiums are more than just places to play. They are becoming places of change—where youth are building healthy habits and moving away from the influence of drugs. This sports initiative is now becoming a symbol of positive social change in villages.

Over ₹1,100 Crore Invested to Build Sports Infrastructure

To make this plan a reality, the state government has set aside a large budget of ₹1,184 crore:

Rs 966 crore will go into building sports grounds and infrastructure.
Rs 126 crore is being spent on planting grass, building footpaths, and tree plantations through MGNREGA.
Rs 102 crore is for sports equipment like goalposts, nets, children’s play sets, and swings.
This is not just a financial investment—it’s a strong step towards a better future for Punjab’s youth.

Safe, Green, and Fully Equipped Stadiums

The stadiums being built will be just like those in big cities. Each one will have:

  • A boundary fence for safety
  • Natural green grass fields
  • High-mast lights for evening games
  • Clean toilets and drinking water
  • A play area for children and open gyms for people of all ages

So far, land has been identified in 3,083 villages, and work has already started. What's special is that the tender process for these stadiums is being completed in just 2–3 days—showing the government’s fast, fair, and corruption-free working style.

Sports Creating a New Way of Life for Youth

The youth of Punjab’s villages are now not just watching sports like cricket, kabaddi, hockey, or wrestling—they are playing these games themselves. Many young people who were earlier falling into drug use or negative company are now joining gyms, going for morning runs, and playing games regularly.

This shift is not just about building stadiums—it is a social revolution. Sports are giving the youth of Punjab purpose, discipline, and confidence.

Sports as a Tool for Social Change

Through this initiative, the Mann government is not only creating spaces to play, but also creating a future full of possibilities. The sound of children laughing, people competing, and villages coming alive with energy shows that Punjab is on a new path. Sports are now becoming a source of pride, health, and hope across the state.
