Noida: A food safety inspection ahead of Diwali has exposed serious hygiene concerns at sweet storage facilities in Gautam Buddh Nagar, with officials destroying 360 kilograms of rasgullas found unfit for human consumption.

Acting on the directions of District Magistrate Medha Roopam, the Food Safety Department conducted surprise inspections at sweet shops and warehouses to check the quality and safety of food products as demand rises ahead of the festival.

Insects Found Among Rasgullas in Devla Warehouse

During an inspection at a sweets warehouse in Devla village, officials reportedly found flies and mosquitoes among stored rasgullas. Following the discovery of unhygienic conditions, the team ordered the destruction of approximately 300 kilograms of the sweets at the site.

In a separate inspection at Garhi Bawan Bigha in the Dankaur area, another 60 kilograms of chhena rasgullas were found unsuitable for human consumption and destroyed.

The department confirmed that a total of 360 kilograms of rasgullas were disposed of during the enforcement drive.

Nine Food Samples Sent for Laboratory Testing

Apart from the disposal of the sweets, officials collected nine samples of different food products for laboratory examination. The samples included kesar chamcham, laddoos, milk, chhena, rasgullas and doda barfi.

Further action will be decided after the laboratory reports are received and the quality of the sampled products is assessed.
