Chandigarh: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has registered a resounding victory in Punjab’s Municipal Corporation and Municipal Council elections, once again emerging as the dominant political force in the state. Following the announcement of the results, a festive atmosphere took over the party’s Punjab headquarters, where leaders and workers gathered in large numbers to celebrate the win.

As early trends began favoring AAP, party supporters started arriving at the office, turning the premises into a scene of jubilation. Workers danced to the beats of drums, distributed sweets, and congratulated one another on what they described as a historic victory.

Senior party leaders, including Punjab affairs in-charge Manish Sisodia, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, and Media In-Charge Baltej Pannu, were present during the celebrations. Several other senior leaders and office-bearers also joined the victory event.

Leaders Thank the People of Punjab

Addressing party workers, AAP leaders expressed gratitude to the people of Punjab and described the election outcome as a strong endorsement of the Bhagwant Mann-led government’s development agenda and welfare policies.

They stated that the victory would further strengthen the party’s ability to accelerate development projects in urban areas and improve civic infrastructure across the state.

Manish Sisodia Expresses Gratitude

AAP Punjab in-charge Manish Sisodia thanked the people of Punjab for their support and said that the election results had delivered a significant political message. “I sincerely thank the people of Punjab for blessing Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann with such overwhelming support,” Sisodia said.

He added that voters had clearly demonstrated their appreciation for what he described as honest politics and governance focused on public welfare.

Support Beyond Rural Punjab

Sisodia noted that AAP had earlier received strong backing in district council and panchayat elections, particularly in rural areas. According to him, the civic poll results show that urban voters have now also endorsed the government’s policies and performance.

He said the public had acknowledged the government’s work in sectors such as electricity, water supply, employment generation, education, and healthcare.

BJP Comes Under Fire

Targeting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Sisodia claimed that the election results sent two clear messages. First, people have supported the development work carried out by the Bhagwant Mann government. Second, Punjab voters have rejected what he termed politics driven by central agencies and political vendettas. He further claimed that the poor performance of BJP candidates reflected the public’s verdict against such politics.

Eye on 2027 Assembly Elections

Looking ahead, Sisodia expressed confidence that AAP would continue working with dedication and honesty to secure a strong mandate in the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections.

He said the newly elected mayors and councillors would work closely with the state government to ensure faster development at the grassroots level. According to him, the civic poll victory has strengthened the party’s position and reinforced public trust in its governance model.

A Strong Political Signal

Political observers believe the civic election results are being viewed as more than just a local body contest. They are widely seen as an indicator of the public mood ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.

The results suggest growing organizational strength for AAP, sustained popularity for Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, and continued support for the party’s governance agenda across both rural and urban Punjab.
