8 Killed, 15 Injured In Horrific Pickup-Horse Trolley Collision In Punjab

Firozpur: On Saturday, 8 people died in a head-on collision between a pickup and a horse-drawn trolley near the Jangawale turn. More than 15 people have been injured, many of whom are in critical condition.

How did the accident happen?

According to the information, the people traveling in the pickup were going to immerse the ashes of a relative. When the vehicle reached Janga turn, it had a direct collision with a horse drawn trolley coming from the front. Many people got trapped inside the vehicle. Hearing the screams, people nearby ran and immediately got involved in relief work.

Who helped the injured?

After the accident, the people present on the spot took out the injured without any delay. Some people took all the injured to the civil hospital in their own vehicles and some with the help of an ambulance. The chief medical officer of the civil hospital, Dr. Nikhil Gupta said that the condition of many of the injured was critical. He has been referred to Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital for better treatment. The remaining patients are being treated in the civil hospital.

What action did the police take?

As soon as the information was received, the police team reached the spot. The police removed the accident vehicles from the road and restored traffic. The work of identification of the dead and injured has also been started. In the initial investigation, carelessness at the turn and high speed are being considered as the reasons for the accident.

The people who died belonged to the same family and relatives. Had set out to immerse the ashes, but an accident occurred on the way. There is mourning everywhere in the village.
