Punjab Congress Rift Deepens as Channi Camp Questions Raja Warring's Leadership (OpenAi)
Chandigarh: After the change in the organization in Punjab Congress, the resentment that was brewing internally has now come out openly. Questions have started being raised on the leadership of State President Amarinder Singh Raja Wadding and a new discussion has started in the political circles. A meeting of leaders was held for the second consecutive day at the Morinda house of former CM Charanjit Singh Channi. There, displeasure was openly expressed regarding the functioning and leadership of the party. Experts believe that the fight for the chair in Congress has started before the 2027 elections.
In the meeting, Congress leader Tarsem Singh DC clearly said that Congress cannot come back to power under Raja Vading. He said that the people of Punjab want change and want to see Channi as CM again. Political experts are considering this not just as their opinion but as a deliberate move of the Channi camp.
According to sources, many leaders and former MLAs also raised questions on the decisions of the organization. He said that after the defeat in 2022, the workers were expecting change, but the high command did not change the state president. Some leaders fear that if the organization does not improve, it will be difficult for the party to make a comeback.
The displeasure of Chandigarh MP Manish Tiwari has also intensified the political discussions. After not getting a place in the election committees, he shared an emotional message on social media, in which he wrote that there should be a cure for insecurity. Tiwari also said that he has given several decades of his life to Congress. His statement is being seen as an indirect comment on the decisions of the party leadership.
The visit of former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa to Delhi has also given rise to political speculations. Media reports claimed that he had come to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Although there has been no official confirmation regarding this meeting, it is being viewed from different perspectives within the Congress. Due to this, the discussion about formation of many power centers within the party has intensified.
Punjab Congress currently seems divided into many factions. On one hand, the command of the organization is in the hands of Raja Vading, while on the other hand, Channi supporters are seen challenging his leadership. At the same time, the activism of leaders like Manish Tiwari and Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa is also indicating the formation of a different political equation within the party. Political analysts believe that if the Congress high command does not try to end the dissatisfaction in time, then this controversy can become a big challenge for the party in future.
