Three Dead After Toxic Gas Leak at Ludhiana Factory Sparks Chaos (X)
Ludhiana: After a suspected toxic gas leak at a factory in Ludhiana's Industrial Area-A resulted in the deaths of three workers, while two others were hospitalised. The incident took place on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday.
The toxic gas leak incident occurred at Deep Tools, a facility that manufactures hand tools, in Punjab's in Ludhiana. The toxic gas leak triggered panic inside the premises, prompting an emergency response from local police and rescue teams. Personnel from police station and other departments rushed to the spot and launched relief operations.
While confirming the incident, Swapan Sharma, Police Commissioner, Ludhiana, said that, “We are in the process of registering an FIR at Moti Nagar police station against those responsible for the incident.”
He added that the specific type of gas involved in the leak has yet to be identified.
The police said that the gas reportedly spread rapidly through the premises within minutes, creating chaos inside the manufacturing unit.
Workers allegedly started experiencing breathing difficulties, severe eye irritation, and suffocation soon after the leak.
