Allahabad HC Grants Parole To Atiq Ahmed's Jailed Sons Umar, Ali For Brother Abaan's Last Rites

The Allahabad High Court has granted parole to Atiq Ahmed's Jailed Sons Umar and Ali to attend his younger son Abaan's funeral. Tight security arrangements have been made for the funeral at the Kasari-Masari cemetery in Prayagraj.

Lucknow: The Allahabad High Court on Friday approved the parole applications of slain gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed's sons, Umar and Ali, to attend the funeral of their younger brother Abaan, who died in a road accident.

What did the court say?

After the death of slain gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed's youngest son Abaan in a road accident on Jhansi-Kanpur National Highway, Allahabad High Court has approved the parole of his brothers, Umar and Ali. 

The court has also imposed a condition that both of them will not talk to the media. The court has sought from the UP government with regard to security, and the lawyer for the government has replied that they will provide adequate security to both of them. 

The appeal was turned down by the district court and the Allahabad High Court was approached. A petition was presented for both of them, requesting parole.

What happen in district court?

As per reports, an application was filed in the district court on Thursday evening for permission to attend the funeral, which was refused. An appeal was then filed in the High Court. 

The family said that the body was being kept in the Puramufti area of Prayagraj in his aunt's house. It is believed that the funeral will be carried out this evening at the Kasari-Masari cemetery. Given this, the administration has implemented rigid security measures in the cemetery and their vicinity. A large number of police have been deployed to deal with any untoward situation.

When did the accident happen?

A speeding Creta car crashed in the area of the Jhansi-Kanpur highway against a divider on Thursday at the Police Station, Poonch. Abaan Ahmed and his friend sonu died on the spot and three other youth were injured. A post mortem examination was carried out by a panel of three doctors at Jhansi Medical College. 

The impact was so severe that Abaan and Sonu got brain hemorrhage, the report said. In addition, the organs, intestines and heart of the abdomen were greatly injured. Both succumbed to the bleeding, both internally and externally. Atiq Ahmed had five sons of whom Abaan was the youngest. His elder brothers Umar and Ali are in separate jails of Uttar Pradesh.
