Baghpat: After about two months, the police have got a big success in the famous Ankit-Israr murder case of Baghpat. The main accused Mahant Nareshnath, who was absconding in the murder of two friends, was arrested by the police from Kolkata. According to the police, after the incident, the accused first reached Haridwar and then went to Nepal. When flood situation arose in Nepal, he came back to India and started living in Kolkata hiding his identity. Here he disguised himself as a monk and started living outside the temple. A reward of Rs 25 thousand was declared on him. After finding his location in West Bengal, Baghpat Police increased surveillance and finally caught him.

What is Ankit-Israr murder case?

The matter is related to Shri Ganesh temple located in Lahchauda village of Chandinagar police station area of ​​Baghpat. Ankit and his friend Israr, resident of Singoli Taga village, had left home on July 25 but did not return. After receiving the complaint from the family members, the police started searching for both of them. While investigating the mobile location and other clues, the investigation reached the temple premises. After this, on August 13, excavation was done in the temple premises, where the bodies of both were recovered from a pit. According to the police, after hiding the bodies, interlocking tiles were placed on top.

How did suspicion come on the Mahant of the temple?

When the investigation progressed, the name of temple Mahant Nareshnath emerged as the main accused. The police had already arrested two of his disciples in this case. Both the bodies were recovered from the temple premises on the behest of one of the accused. After this the police intensified the search for Nareshnath. Raids were conducted at his possible hideouts, but he continued to remain away from the police. In August, a reward of Rs 25,000 was announced for his arrest and a search was going on for him in several states.

According to the police, he was arrested on September 18 from Shri Gorakhnath Temple located in Baguiati police station area of ​​North 24 Parganas area.
