Aligarh: The controversy over Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar allegedly removing a woman’s hijab during a public function shows no sign of fading. While opposition parties continue to criticise the chief minister and demand an apology, several religious figures have come forward in his support

During a visit to Aligarh on Friday, Hindutva leader Sadhvi Prachi openly defended Nitish Kumar and made a series of sharp statements on burqa, madrasas, political parties and religious practices, further intensifying the debate.

What did Sadhvi Prachi say about the hijab controversy?

Speaking to reporters, Sadhvi Prachi said that when Nitish Kumar removes a burqa, people claim that their religion is under threat. She questioned why similar outrage is not seen in other incidents.

Referring to a recent case from Shamli, the Sadhvi said a man allegedly killed his wife and two daughters for not wearing a burqa. She asked why religion was not said to be in danger at that time.

Prachi also mentioned incidents from outside India, claiming that when the undergarments of Bangladesh’s prime minister were thrown in public, no one spoke about religious sentiments being hurt.

Why did she call for a ban on burqa and madrasas?

Sadhvi Prachi alleged that burqa is misused for fake voting and said it should be banned. She went a step further and demanded a ban on madrasas and the Quran, claiming that such action would help control crime.

According to her, strict measures against religious institutions would bring discipline and improve law and order.

What did she say about the Samajwadi Party?

Commenting on Samajwadi Party MP R K Chaudhary’s remarks linking Hindu cremation practices to pollution, Sadhvi Prachi said the party has turned into a "Namazwadi Party."

She questioned whether pollution does not increase due to the large number of graveyards spread over vast areas. She accused the party of selective concern when it comes to religious practices.

What she say on festivals and Santa Claus?

Sadhvi Prachi also spoke about religious festivals, alleging that roads are left blood-stained during Eid due to animal sacrifice. She asked why concerns about pollution are not raised at that time.

Referring to Christmas celebrations, she questioned why Santa Claus visits schools but not madrasas. She said Santa Claus should also visit madrasas and distribute caps there.
